Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Order of the Scorched Dawn serves the blazing will of Shuma-Baal, God of Purging Flame.

Clad in black plate and wielding weapons wreathed in holy fire, these zealous knights hunt the spawn of darkness and the faithless with equal fervor. To them, every monster and heretic is but dry kindling for their god’s eternal blaze, and their judgment falls swift as a sunrise over a burning battlefield.

Blazing Fury

3rd-level Path of Shuma-Baal feature

When you call upon the primal wrath within, you can choose to let Shuma-Baal’s searing fire consume all thought of defense. When you enter your Rage, you may instead enter a Blazing Fury. While in this state:

  • You do not gain the damage resistance normally granted by Rage.

  • You can use the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action on each of your turns.

  • Your melee weapon attacks deal an extra [roll]1d6[/roll] fire damage on a hit.

"My fury becomes an inferno—burning fast, burning bright, and leaving nothing but ash in my wake."

Gaze into the Inferno

6th-level Path of Shuma-Baal feature

The searing devotion of Shuma-Baal burns away all weakness of will, leaving your mind as untouchable as flame itself.

While raging, you are immune to the charmed and frightened conditions, and you cannot be possessed or controlled against your will.

In addition, if a creature attempts to read your thoughts, charm you, or otherwise magically influence your mind, you use your reaction to flood it's mind with mental flames, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take [roll]2d8[/roll] psychic damage as your blazing faith lashes out in a mental conflagration. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage.

"Those who dare trespass into your thoughts find only roaring fire—and no way out."

Scorched Earth

10th-level Path of Shuma-Baal feature

Your fury spreads like wildfire, punishing all who dare stand too close.

  • While raging, whenever you hit a creature with a melee attack, each enemy of your choice within 5 feet of that creature takes fire damage equal to your Constitution modifier.

  • Additionally, you gain resistance to fire damage at all times, and your melee attacks while raging ignore resistance to fire damage.

"The flame does not choose its victims; it devours all that lingers too near."

Avatar of the Pyre

14th-level Path of Shuma-Baal feature

You become a living embodiment of Shuma-Baal’s divine blaze.

  • When you enter your rage, you may erupt in a pillar of holy fire. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take 4d6 fire damage, or half as much on a success.

  • While raging, you emit bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for another 20 feet. Hostile creatures that start their turn within 5 feet of you take fire damage equal to your Rage damage bonus.

  • You are immune to fire damage, and when you would take fire damage from any source, you can use your reaction to heal for an amount equal to half the damage prevented.

"Where you tread, the old world turns to ash, and from the embers, Shuma-Baal’s judgment rises."
