Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of Salt understand that nature’s harmony is fragile and that unseen forces, spirits, omens, and the tides of fate, influence the mortal world as much as the winds or the rain. They act as wardens against unnatural intrusion, prophets of coming storms, and guides who see the weft and weave of destiny. Their craft blends natural wisdom with ritual, using salt as a sacred element of protection and communion.
Level 3: Saltcasting
At third level, you have begun meditating on the powers of the ancient spirits and they have granted you some of their power. You may cast divination spells of 2nd level or lower once without expending a spell slot per short rest. This ability improves to 3rd level or lower when you reach 6th level, and 5th level or lower when you reach 10th level. Additionally, divination spells with a component cost are reduced by half and any components may be replaced with salt.
You may also add the following spells to your druid list, these spells are always prepared, and do not count against your total prepared spells.
Level 3: See Invisibility, Detect Evil and Good
Level 6: Clairvoyance, Detect Thoughts
Level 10: Commune, Arcane Eye
Level 3: Soothsayer's Ward
Also at third level, you may call upon the unseen forces of nature to prevent unsavory entities from harming a creature. As an action, you can expend a use of Wild Shape and choose an ally within 30 ft. of you. An ally affected by this ability is dusted with a magical salt-like power, and they are under the effects of the Sanctuary spell (DC is your spellcasting DC), but may still attack, cast spells, and deal damage without breaking the effect. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until dispelled.
Level 6: Salt Spirit's Sight
At 6th level, you are granted superior sight while in a form resembling the primordial spirits of salt. While wildshaped, your form is granted truesight up to 30ft. Additionally, at 14th level you gain access to the True Seeing spell. This spell is always prepared and doesn't count against your total prepared spells.
Level 10: Speaker of Omens
At 10th level your dedication to the way of the ancient salt spirits has allowed you to commune with them to influence an event yet to come. Once per long rest, you may perform a ritual to communicate with the spirits. You spend 1 hour concentrating and must spend material components (equaling 1/2 your druid level x 100 gold pieces) in order to ask the spirits to influence an event, battle, travel, or activity within 1 day that has yet to happen. Roll a d20, the result of which indicates how the spirits influence said event/battle/travel/activity. You must declare what you want the spirits to influence before you make the roll, as well as what a 1 and 20 would indicate respectively. Once you see the roll, you may expend a spell slot of 5th or higher in order to roll again. You may only expend one spell slot in this way, and you may decide which roll to keep as the result.
As an example, a Circle of Salt druid might ask the spirits to ensure a coming ritual is successful, a 20 would indicate total success, and a 1 would indicate total failure. The DM may determine what happens during the ritual while considering the spirit's influence. A roll of 17 might have one or two points of difficulty during the ritual, while a roll of 5 might only have 1 aspect which succeeds.
Level 14: Circle of Salt
At 14th level, whenever you expend a wildshape use, you may cause the ground and air around you to become dusted with a fine, glowing salt. Create a 30ft circle around yourself, this circle remains stationary and lasts for 1 minute. Fey, Fiends, Undead, and Aberrations must make a wisdom saving throw (DC is your druid spellcasting DC) in order to enter the circle, or attack creatures within it, on a success they may attack or enter freely, on a failure they may not. Additionally, the circle acts as difficult terrain to creatures that you decide when it is created. Yourself and any allies are under the effects of the Bless spell while within the circle.
