Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Lorekeepers is sworn by paladins who dedicate themselves to the pursuit and preservation of knowledge. They are guardians of history, seekers of hidden truths, and protectors of wisdom. These paladins understand the power and importance of knowledge and strive to ensure its availability and accuracy for the betterment of all.

Tenets of the Lorekeepers:

Preserve the Past: The past holds valuable lessons and wisdom. It is the duty of the Lorekeepers to safeguard history, artifacts, and ancient texts from destruction or corruption.

Seek Truth and Knowledge: Knowledge is a powerful tool. The Lorekeepers vow to continuously seek truth, expand their understanding, and share their knowledge for the benefit of society.

Guard the Libraries: Libraries, repositories of knowledge, must be protected. Lorekeepers defend these places and ensure they remain accessible to those who seek information and enlightenment.

Share Wisdom, Illuminate Minds: The Lorekeepers understand that knowledge should not be hoarded but shared. They are committed to guiding others and illuminating minds with the light of knowledge.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Truth Seeker: As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to unveil hidden truths. Choose a creature within 60 feet of you. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, they are compelled to speak the truth for the next minute. They cannot knowingly speak lies or withhold information during this time. On a successful save, the target is unaffected, and cannot be affected by this for 24 hours.

Lore's Shield :As a reaction when you or an ally within 30 feet of you is targeted by an attack, you can use your Channel Divinity to invoke ancient protective wards. The target gains a bonus to their AC equal to your Charisma modifier until the start of your next turn. Additionally, if the attacker misses with the attack, they take radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of Lorekeeper Spells

Aura of Wisdom

Starting at 7th level, the Lorekeeper's presence enhances the wisdom and understanding of those around them. Allies within 10 feet gain advantage on Intelligence and Wisdom saving throws. Additionally, they can add the Lorekeeper's Charisma modifier to their Intelligence and Wisdom ability checks.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Inscribing Echoes:

At 15th level, the Lorekeeper gains the ability to inscribe echoes of ancient knowledge onto objects or surfaces. As an action, you can magically inscribe a single rune or symbol onto an object or a surface within your reach. The rune or symbol can be a maximum of 10 feet in diameter.

The inscribed rune or symbol can have various effects depending on your intent:

  • Knowledge Ward: You can inscribe a rune that creates a protective ward against hostile magic. Any creature within 10 feet of the inscribed rune gains advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects until the start of your next turn.
  • Ancient Guidance: You can inscribe a symbol that grants advantage on ability checks or saving throws related to a specific skill or knowledge domain. This bonus lasts for 1 hour and can be used by any creature that can see and understand the inscribed symbol.
  • Ethereal Beacon: You can inscribe a rune that creates a radiant beacon of light. The inscribed rune sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. Aberrations, undead and fiends within the bright light suffer disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws against your spells and class features.

The inscribed rune or symbol remains in place until it is intentionally erased or dispelled. Each use of this feature can inscribe one rune or symbol, and you can have a maximum number of inscriptions active at one time equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one). When you reach your maximum, inscribing a new rune or symbol causes the oldest one to vanish.

Eternal Archives

Upon reaching 20th level, the Lorekeeper's connection to knowledge becomes transcendent. They gain the ability to recall and utilize any spell they have previously witnessed or read. Once per long rest, the Lorekeeper can cast a spell of 8th level or lower, even if it is not prepared, by drawing upon their understanding of it from their vast repository of knowledge.
