Base Class: Monk
Trained in ancient monasteries far to the north, monks
of the Nordic Ways channel the strength of the old gods
— Odin, Thor, and Loki — to forge powerful bodies and
indomitable spirits. These monks blend their ki with
the raw forces of nature, striking like thunder and
moving like shadows across the battlefield.
Level 3: Nordic Might
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your
training grants you overwhelming physical prowess.
You gain the Grappler feat if you don’t already have it.
Loki’s Shadow
At 6th level, you learn to slip through shadows like the
Trickster god himself. While you are in dim light or
darkness, you can use a bonus action to teleport up to
60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also
in dim light or darkness. In addition, until the end of
your turn after teleporting in this way, you have
advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks made to
grapple a creature. You can use this feature a number of
times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum of
once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a
long rest.
Thor’s Wrath
Starting at 11th level, you can call down the fury of the
storm. While you are grappling a creature, you can
expend 3 ki points as an action to strike the creature
with a bolt of lightning. The target takes 8d6 thunder
damage. The damage automatically hits.
Odin’s Gift — The Nordic Lights
At 17th level, you can bind your foes with the spectral
light of the heavens. When you successfully grapple a
creature, spectral light surrounds it. The creature takes
radiant damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die
at the start of each of its turns while grappled by you. In
addition, if a grappled creature attempts to escape your
grapple and fails, it becomes blinded until the end of its
next turn. A creature can only be blinded this way once
per turn.
