Base Class: Monk
The Deity: Aurion, the Thermoelectric Sovereign
Aurion is a bodiless entity from the Thermoelectric Spirit World, a realm of intertwined temperature, charge, and light. As its Sovereign, Aurion balances opposing forces: fire/cold on a thermal axis, lightning/radiance on an energetic axis, forming an energy grid. Aurion seeks no worship but facilitates mortal bonds with lesser spirits to grant them eventual physical bodies upon the host's death, manifesting via the diadem's energies. Through this, mortals gain control over fire (heat), cold (freezing), lightning (charge), and radiance (light), amplifying strength while advancing Aurion's vision.
The Subclass: Warrior of the Aurion Diadem
As a monk following this warrior path, you bond with a specific spirit from Aurion's realm via a diadem fused to your body, extending your circulatory system for enhanced focus, elemental control, and vitality. Faith in this spirit (not Aurion) is tertiary—secondary to thermoelectric mastery—but ensures its post-death embodiment. Aurion selects the spirit and warns of risks: imbalances cause debilitating surges like overheating, chilling, shocking, or glowing visibility. Your eyes glow red-blue, reflecting the realm; the subclass infuses monastic ki with grid forces for disciplined elemental manipulation. (Compatible with 2024 PHB rules; use "Focus Points" interchangeably with ki.)
Pole Types: pp = pole positive (representing expansion, surging, or emitting forces); pn = pole negative (representing contraction, stillness, or absorbing forces).
Path to Becoming a Warrior of the Aurion Diadem
Pursue scholarly and spiritual preparation, culminating in a ritual that binds you to the spirit. Faith is a quiet, eternal promise of the spirit's future body.
- Studies and Preparation:
- Train rigorously in meditation and the interplay of natural forces.
- Research Aurion's lore and the grid: fire (pp) vs. cold (pn) on the thermal axis; lightning (pp) vs. radiance (pn) on the energetic axis.
- Experiment by meditating near flames, ice, storms, or bright lights to grasp circulatory enhancement and the spirits' craving for physical forms.
- Enter a trance to contact Aurion, who imparts realm knowledge, selects your spirit, explains the ritual, and warns of its dangers.
- The Binding Ritual:
- Materials: Craft a silver band inset with ruby (fire), sapphire (cold), and quartz (radiance/lightning); shape it as a forehead circlet.
- Mark: Inscribe your name on the front; etch fire/lightning symbols on the left, cold/radiance on the right.
- Invoke: Pledge to the spirit: "I, [Name], offer my faith to you, [Spirit's Name], binding my body as your vessel until my fading grants you a true form." Visualize swirling red-blue energies entering the diadem.
- Bind: Press it to your forehead and focus ki to merge it with your flesh. Warmth surges through your veins, your eyes glow, and the spirit takes residence, subtly nourished by your faith.
- Aftermath: The diadem becomes irremovable without breaking the pact (losing subclass features). The spirit "lives" through you temporarily and manifests its own body upon your death.
Diadem's Thermoelectric Surge
Thermoelectric Alignment (Action): Spend 1 ki point to align with the grid, choosing one axis as Primary (for offensive surges: thermal with fire pp or cold pn, or energetic with lightning pp or radiance pn) and the other as Secondary (for imbalance costs). Lasts until you realign or finish a short/long rest.
Grid Alignment: (Fire and Cold)
Types - Fire (pp), Cold (pn), Lightning (pp), Radiance (pn)
Primary types axis - chosen type pp and pn
Secondary types axis - other type pp and pn

Secondary - Fire and Cold
Infra-Red Imbalance
Fire pp (Overheated): Disadvantage on Strength checks/saves.
Cold pn (Chilled): Disadvantage on Dexterity checks/saves.
Lightning pp (Shocked): Disadvantage on attack rolls against you (advantage for enemies).
Radiance pn (Glowing): Disadvantage on Stealth checks and hiding.
Equilibrium Need (Bonus Action): After suffering an imbalance, spend 1 ki point to switch Primary/Secondary axes (and poles) and clear all debuffs from one pole type, regaining hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier if any debuffs were cleared.
Infra-Red Aura
Infa-Red Aura Perception Traits:
Distance change - Short (pn) ≤30 ft, Long (pp) >30 ft
Hight change - Low (pn) below, High (pp) above
Visibility change - Dark (pn) dim/obscured, Bright (pp) illuminated
Whenever you make a Wisdom (Perception) check or sense your surroundings (e.g., searching or tracking), assess the perception traits: Distance, Height, Visibility. For each pp trait, suffer an imbalance (apply a debuff of your Secondary pp type) and gain a surge charge adding 1d4 extra damage (scaling to 1d6 at 5th, 1d8 at 11th, 1d10 at 17th) of your Primary pp type to your next unarmed strike or monk weapon attack. For each pn trait, similar but for pn types. Store up to your proficiency bonus charges; they fade after 1 minute.
Spirit's Capricious Intervention (Reaction)
At any time a d4 may be taken from the center of the table, to another player (you cannot roll it). They roll: 1 (Low Faith: take toll damage equal to the roll, of the Secondary type, but your next charge adds +1d4 damage); 4 (High Faith: use ki equal to the roll, of the Secondary type, but your next charge adds +4d4 damage); 2 or 3 (DM decides Low or High based on recent roleplay honoring the spirit)
Flavor: The diadem surges with dangerous extremes, imbalances hindering your form as the spirit craves your end, twisting faith into rare but painful peril.
Diadem's Resilient Conduit
The spirit fortifies your form, granting resistance to damage types matching your Primary Axis poles (fire for pp, cold for pn, lightning for pp, radiant for pn; updates on realignment).
Additionally, your skin becomes a thermoelectric conductor: as a bonus action, expend 1 ki point to generate controlled heat or charge for 1 minute. This allows you to melt small ice/frost (up to a 5-ft cube), ignite flammable objects (like tinder or paper), or deliver a shocking touch (deal 1d6 lightning damage as a reaction to being grappled or touched; increased to 2d6 if you are wearing thin metal cloth clothing, a common conductive garment among warriors of this path). To cook food using this feature, you must place a thin metallic cloth between the food and your skin as a conductive medium.
Flavor: Your veins pulse like living conduits, the spirit shielding you while its faith-fed hunger grows, channeling surges toward its eventual embodiment—often enhanced by the thin metal cloth robes favored by disciples for their conductivity.
Grid Redirection Surge
When you take damage, use your reaction and expend 2 ki points to halve it (after resistance) and redirect the remainder as force damage to a visible target within 60 feet (Dexterity save vs. your ki save DC for half). This triggers an Infra-Red Aura assessment on the damage source (gaining charges but suffering an extra imbalance debuff per trait, of Secondary types). Requires expending one stored surge charge.
Flavor: Spirit-guided flux rebounds assaults through the grid, the mounting imbalances a subtle whisper of your impending fade and the spirit's embodiment.
Communal Thermoelectric Harmony
As a bonus action, expend 3 ki points to share your stored surge charges with all willing party members within 60 feet (excluding yourself) for 1 minute. They can add the elemental damage to their next weapon attack or damaging spell without suffering imbalances or faith rolls—but you suffer one extra imbalance debuff (of a random Secondary pole type) per ally empowered. Usable once per long rest.
Flavor: The diadem radiates unified grid power safely to others, the spirit—attuned through your tertiary faith—eagerly anticipating its rebirth from your fading legacy.
