Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Long Death are more than just devoted zealots of death deities; they are the solemn custodians of mortality's finality. While undead are their primary quarry—for they are the gravest affront to the natural order—the monks understand that other creatures, from fiends to fey, can also possess an unnatural resilience to death's touch. A Warrior of the Long Death fights not for life, but for the principle of a permanent end. They use their grim knowledge not just to fell enemies, but to ensure that the line between life and death remains clear and absolute. In return for their unwavering commitment to this sacred, and often morbid, balance, they receive their deity's assurance that their own end will come only at the proper time, and their bodies will be spared the corrupting curse of undeath.

Touch of Death

Your strikes disrupt the balance of life and death, inflicting quiet decay. By enforcing a proper end, you siphon stray vitality back into your body. You gain the Following Benefits:

  • Necrotic Strikes. Whenever you make an unarmed strike, you can choose to deal necrotic damage instead of bludgeoning damage.
  • Vitality Harvest. When you reduce a creature within 5 feet of you to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Monk level + your Wisdom modifier.

Avatar of Death

Your touch can overwhelm the defenses of those marked for death. When you deal necrotic damage to a creature with one of your class features, you can choose to bypass the target's resistance to necrotic damage and treat any immunity to necrotic damage as resistance.

If you defeat a creature while using this feature, you can't benefit from your Vitality Harvest feature against that creature.

In addition, when you hit an undead creature with one of your unarmed strikes, you deal extra necrotic damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.

Hour of Reaping

As an action, you can use your grim visage to frighten those around you, causing them to see glimpses of their future deaths. When you take this action, a 30-foot emanation of dread extends from you. This emanation moves with you, and you can choose which creatures in the area are affected. Each creature you choose must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your Focus save DC or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

Mastery of Death

Your devotion to your Death Deity has granted you the means to avoid death until it is the right time. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, or are subjected to an effect that would kill you instantly, you can spend 1 Focus Point (no action required) to have 1 hit point instead.

Touch of the Long Death

With the unshakeable authority granted by your deity, your touch becomes a sacred verdict of death. This burst of purifying decay bypasses the physical form entirely, attacking the very soul to enforce the finality you have long served. When you take the Attack action and hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can expend 1 to 10 Focus points. The target must then make a Constitution saving throw. The target takes an additional 2d12 necrotic damage for each Focus Point spent on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You can use this feature only once per turn, and when you do, you forgo your Extra Attack.
