Base Class: Barbarian
You've never been an exactly dumb guy, but you know for a fact that no matter what folks will see you that way. Despite all you do to fight against it, the world sees you as the hulking brute found in many other works of fiction. Too bad you're mentally ill, unstable and got more than enough chips on your shoulder to burn through any safety to prove them wrong.
Level 3: Punching up
They like to cut you down, but you can go even lower than they can.
While in rage, when you take damage from a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to enter an even more furious state until the start of your next turn. Until then, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + your Barbarian level (minimum of 1). Additionally, the next attack roll you make against that creature before the end of your next turn has advantage.
You can use this feature an equal number of times to your rage bonus and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 3: Punching Down
You're bigger then most folks that would try to push you around, use that size for once an start punching down.
Your unarmed attack damage die is 1d6 when you hold no other weapons.
Level 6: Afterburners
Your drive to succeed is so intense that you can burn your own life force to overcome failure.
Immediately after you fail an ability check, you can use your reaction to expend one Hit Die and reroll the check.
You roll the Hit Die, take that much necrotic damage (which cannot be reduced by any means), and add the number rolled to the new ability check. You must use the new roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 10: Breakdown
Your mind is a fortress built on a fault line, and when outside pressure tries to seize control, it triggers a catastrophic break—not in you, but in your rage. While you are raging, you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened, paralyzed, or stunned.
Additionally, when you fail a saving throw against an effect that would impose one of these conditions on you, you can use your reaction to not resist it. Instead, you let the invading energy flood your system and then violently expel it as raw, psychic feedback.
You intentionally fail the saving throw and are affected by the condition. However, the moment the condition is applied, your body erupts with manic energy. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). A creature takes 5d10 psychic damage and is frightened of you until the end of your next turn on a failed save, or half as much damage and is frightened until the end of their turn on a successful one.
Once you use this reaction, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Level 14: Transcendent Agony
You have learned the final lesson: true power lies in staring death in the face and daring it to take you.
When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can use your reaction to enter a state of Transcendent Agony.
You immediately stand up (if prone), and your rage does not end. You are immune to the unconscious condition and cannot make death saving throws for the duration of this feature.
For the next 3 turns (including the current one), you gain the following benefits:
-
At the start of each of your turns, you make a death saving throw. This is a free action
- You are immune to the Unconscious, Restrained, and Stunned condition
-
Your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
-
You have advantage on any hits made during this time.
This state ends early if you ever have more than 0 hit points. If this state ends and you are at 0 hit points, you immediately begin making death saving throws as normal and your rage ends.
If you fail your death saving throws, you remain standing until the ability ends, after such, you immeadietly die.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
