Base Class: Monk
The Warriors of the Endless Aether see focus not only as the energy of the body, but as part of a limitless tide that stretches across the planes of existence. To them, the Aether is the invisible weave of motion, a boundless expanse connecting every living soul, every star, and every shadow.
Through rigorous discipline, these monks learn to dip into this cosmic stream and let it flow through them. They vanish from one place and reappear in another with a ripple of starlight, weave their strikes with the raw force of planar energy, and step briefly between the cracks of reality itself.
A Warrior of the Endless Aether is a combatant who bends the battlefield around them—slipping past defenses, striking with otherworldly precision, and phasing beyond reach when threatened. In time, they become less like mortals and more like fragments of infinity, flickering avatars of the Aether itself.
Monasteries that follow this tradition are rare, often hidden in places where the veil between planes is thin: high mountain peaks where the stars feel close enough to touch, ruins of ancient gateways, or deep within planar rifts themselves. Their members are often wanderers, guided by visions and whispers of the infinite, carrying with them the serenity—and danger—of the Aether.
Level 3: Aether-Touched Strikes
Your strikes hum with planar energy.
-
Your unarmed strikes count as force damage instead of bludgeoning if you choose.
-
Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to force the target to make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it is pushed 10 feet in a direction of your choice.
.
Level 6: Phase Dodge
Your mastery of the Aether allows you to briefly slip between worlds.
-
When you are targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction and spend 1 focus point to gain advantage on your AC against that attack, as you flicker out of phase.
-
On a successful dodge (the attack misses you), you can immediately teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
Level 11: Rift Stride
You can now step farther through the Endless Aether.
-
When you use your Step of the Wind or Aether Step, you can teleport up to your movement speed instead of moving normally.
-
Once per turn, when you teleport, your next unarmed strike before the end of your turn deals an additional 1d8 force damage.
Level 17: Avatar of the Aether
At the pinnacle of your training, you embody the limitless expanse of the Aether.
-
As a bonus action, you can spend 3 focus points to enter an Aetherial State for 1 minute:
-
You can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain (ending your turn inside one ejects you and deals 1d10 force damage).
-
You gain a fly speed equal to your movement speed.
-
Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you deal an extra 1d10 force damage.
-
-
You can use this feature once per long rest (or again by spending 6 focus points).
