Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

You were born with too much arcane power, it's unstable, overflowing beyond the natural bounds of mortal control. Voices whisper from the fractures, guiding, tempting, and tormenting you. This power makes you a devastating wielder of magic, but always at the edge of collapse.

Level 3: Fractured Magic

At 3rd Level your spells begin to draw on unstable power that threaten to overwhelm you.

Fractured Surge. Whenever you make a ranged spell attack roll a d6. On a 1, your spell becomes fractured:

The spell deals additional force damage equal to your Charisma modifier + half your sorcerer level.

Immediately after the spell resolves, make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 10 + the spell’s level). On a failure, you suffer backlash and take force damage equal to half the additional damage dealt.

Level 3: Magic Madness

At 3rd level your corrupted magic manifests as an arcane voice, a whisper in your head.

The Voice. After you finish a long rest, the DM secretly rolls a d8. That number is the “Voice’s Countdown.” Each time you cast a spell (including cantrips), reduce the countdown by 1. When it reaches 0, the Voice manifests.

When the Voice Manifests: The DM presents a whisper in your mind—an intrusive suggestion, temptation, or demand. You may choose to:

Give In. You gain advantage on your next roll following the completion of the ask.

Resist. Nothing happens immediately, but the next time the Voice manifests its demand is harsher. After resisting 5 times, your mind breaks: you suffer a Madness Surge (roll on the Magic Madness table, see bottom).

Magic Madness Effects (d4)

(Triggered when the player resists the Voice too many times)

  1. False Fire. You hallucinate enemies where none exist.

  2. The Whisper Wins. You must immediately cast the highest-level spell slot you have available at a random target.

  3. Collapse. You immediately fall unconscious and suffer horrible nightmares.

  4. I'm Going Crazy. The character breaks into screaming, laughing, or weeping, you have disadvantage on casting any spells requiring verbal components.

Level 6: Corruption Unleashed

At 6th level you learn to willingly allow corrupted magic to flow through your body, unleashing devastating but perilous power.

You may enter Corrupted State once per Long Rest

Corrupted State. As a bonus action, you may enter a corrupted state. This state lasts for 1 minute, until you are incapacitated, or until you end it early (no action required). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

While in this state:

  • Every ranged spell attack triggers Fractured Surge (no d6 roll required).
  • Con saves automatically succeed for all Fractured Surge uses within this state.
  • Your body is weakened by the broken magic and you have vulnerability to all damage.

Ending Early. You may end this state before the duration expires. If you do, increase the Voice’s Countdown by 2 immediately, as the corruption claws for release.

Level 14: Controlled Corruption

At 14th level you no longer fight the voice, you bargain with it, twisting its whispers into insight.

Corrupted Insight. When the Voice manifests, it no longer only tempts you. It may also offer useful information, such as hints, tactical advice, or warnings (DM discretion).

Arcanic Connection. You gain proficiency in Arcana checks.

Balance in Madness. You gain resistance to psychic damage.

Level 18: Harmonized Corruption

At 18th level you and the Voice become one. The fractures are no longer jagged edges, but conduits of pure destructive power.

Perfect Channel. When you trigger a Fractured Surge, you no longer take backlash damage.

Guiding Voice. You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception), Wisdom (Insight), and Wisdom (Survival) checks.

Cataclysmic Casting. Once per long rest, when you cast a spell of 5th level or lower, you may upcast it by 2 levels without expending a higher-level spell slot.
