Base Class: Monk
Monks that follow this path have a burning wrath so great that it physically alters their bodies and turns them into engines of destruction. They channel this unbridled wrath through their fists and cause devastation wherever they go.
Relentless Wrath
Starting at 3rd level, your wrath is so intense that it physically strengthens your body.
Your strength and constitution scores increase by 2, however your maximum for these scores cannot increase above 20.
You may use constitution for your unarmored defense instead of wisdom.
Also, you can send small manifestations of your wrath flying towards your enemies as red, spectral fists. You may replace an unarmed strike with a Fist shot.
Six armed form
Starting at 6th level, you may spend 2 ki points and a bonus action to manifest your rage as 4 extra arms that grow out of your back. These arms last for 1 minute, then they dissolve into pure energy and disappear harmlessly. While the arms are active you gain the following benefits:
- Whenever you take the attack action, you may make an additional attack (this stacks with Extra Attack).
- Whenever you use flurry of blows, you may make an additional attack (this increases to 2 additional attacks at level 10)
Only one form can be active at a time.
Berserk form
Starting at 11th level, your wrath becomes so intense and concentrated that it releases in a massive, short burst of power. You may spend 8 ki points and a bonus action to transform into a being of pure rage, your skin becomes a metallic golden coat, you glow with orange wrath, your eyes glow red, your mouth becomes a jagged void of endless rage, four massive arms of pure orange wrath energy sprout out of your back and you gain the following benefits and drawbacks for the duration:
- Your martial arts damage die increases by one level (eg: 1d10 -> 1d12)
- You have advantage on strength ability checks, attack rolls and saving throws
- You gain a +4 bonus to your AC
- You gain a +2 bonus to your Strength score, this bonus can exceed 20
- You gain temporary hit points equal to your monk level times 4 which go away when the transformation ends
- You can spend 1 ki point to do the Wrath Beam action
- You can only attack with your unarmed strikes, flurry of blows, Fist shot or your Wrath Beam action
- Your unarmed strikes deal additional damage equal to your monk level divided by 3
- Fist shot is empowered for the duration
- The range for your unarmed strike becomes 15 feet
- If you can cast spells, you cannot cast them or concentrate on one for the duration
The transformation lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. When your transformation ends, you revert to your normal form, you also gain the following drawbacks:
- You gain 2 levels of exhaustion
- Roll 1d4, if the number is a 1, you become incapacitated for 30 minutes (does not happen if the transformation ended due to being knocked unconscious)
Only one form can be active at a time.
Mantra form
At 17th level, your wrath is extremely potent but controlled, you may spend 4 ki points and a bonus action to transform your arms, they grow to 2-3 times their size. This lasts for 1 minute, then the arms dissolve into pure energy and disappear harmlessly, leaving your normal arms behind. While the giant arms are active, you gain the following benefits:
- Your martial arts damage die increases by one level and one die (eg: 1d10 -> 2d12)
- You gain a +2 bonus to your AC
- You gain a +2 bonus to your Strength Score, this bonus can exceed 20
- You can spend 1 ki point to do a Mantra dash instead of an unarmed strike
At 20th level, you can summon the six armed version by spending an extra 2 ki points to gain the following benefits:
- Whenever you take the attack action, you may make an additional attack (this stacks with Extra Attack).
- Whenever you use flurry of blows, you may make 2 additional attacks
- You gain an additional +2 bonus to your AC
- You gain an additional +2 bonus to your Strength Score, this bonus can exceed 20
- Your Mantra dash distance is tripled
Only one form can be active at a time.

Posted Jun 9, 2021I realized that Aura fits the barbarian's kit more than the monk's. So I re-made it for the barbarian, which I will put a link to here: Path of the Mantra Asura
Monk is mainly based around Dexterity and Wisdom, and this subclass tried to force it to use Strength and Constitution, along with Wisdom (for save DC's), along with the class features not working with the subclass and just feeling weird with it. The only reason I initially chose monk was because monk used unarmed strikes, and had a resource (ki points) that I could use for the transformations.
Meanwhile, the barbarian is already based around Strength and Constitution, and the class features felt more fitting with the image and theme I had in mind (angry dad Asura), the only things I had to solve was a reason to use unarmed strikes, and a resource to use for the transformations and stuff. Both of which could be solved easily.
Not too much changed when I re-made it for the barbarian, but I did decide to increase the drawbacks of using the Berserk form, and in doing so also added the blackened berserk form.

Whoops, I meant to say this increase cannot increase your scores above 20, not that your maximum is set to 20.

Posted Aug 13, 2020Very angry indeed.
The only thing missing here is the too angry to stay dead.
