Base Class: Rogue
The Ethereal Walker uses innate magical abilities to shift in between planes and travel vast distances instantly.
Level 3: Spellcasting
You gain the ability to cast spells and learn certain spells when you reach specific levels in this class, according to the table below. You may cast these spells without somatic or material components.
Your spellcasting ability is Charisma.
Spell attack modifier = proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier
Spell save DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier
Ethereal Walker Spells Table
Rogue Level Spells
3rd Catapult, Unseen Servant
7th Misty Step, Blur, Vortex Warp
13th Blink (can cast on others, touch range)
19th Dimension Door, Banishment
Level 3: Planewalker
You can flit in and out of the Ethereal Plane as part of your movement. On your turn, you may expend at least 10 ft of movement in order to teleport to the Ethereal Plane. You are able to move half the movement distance expended while in the Ethereal Plane, at which point you teleport back to the Material Plane.
When you gain this ability at 3rd level, you may only use a maximum of 10 ft of movement on each turn in order to use this feature. This limit increases to 20 ft at 9th level and 30 ft at 13th level.
This ability may only be used when you are on the Material Plane or Ethereal Plane. If on the Ethereal Plane, you teleport to the Material Plane and back instead.
Returning Weapons
Any object you throw or launch using the Catapult spell may be teleported back to your hands after it lands or hits a target. Additionally, any objects you launch using catapult may be used to activate your Sneak Attack.
Level 9: Ethereal Cover
You may teleport to the Ethereal Plane using the Hide action. When using this feature, make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw. On a success, you are hidden partially in the Ethereal Plane until the start of your next turn. You appear slightly opaque and are still tangible in the Material Plane. Any creatures attempting to see you have their passive perception contested with your saving throw value. While unseen by a creature, you count as invisible to that creature. On your next attack roll on the turn you reappear, you have advantage on your next attack roll against any creature that couldn't see you. You may take actions, or bonus actions while in this state, but doing so lowers your Charisma saving throw value by 4 each, which could reveal you to creatures when your save becomes lower than their passive perception. Any attacks made return you to the Material Plane but are not granted advantage if used on the same turn as this ability.
Quick Attacks
You may attack using a light weapon as a bonus action after casting a spell using your action. This attack receives the full bonus of your Dexterity or Strength modifier.
Level 13: Plane Shifting Familiarity
Your Planewalker feature now grants movement in the Ethereal Plane equal to the movement expended, instead of half the movement expended.
Your range for teleporting using Misty Step is also increased to 60 ft.
Magic Sneak Attacks
You can cast a spell using the same action as a sneak attack with a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and regain all spent uses upon a Long Rest.
Level 17: Ethereal Master
You may cast the spell Etherealness with a 4 hour duration once per long rest.
You may also cast Misty Step with any attack as part of the attack action without expending a spell slot. You may choose whether Misty Step or the attack is used first. You may cast Misty Step in this way a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest.
In addition, you gain Truesight to a distance of 30 ft.
