Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who swear the Oath of the Inari dedicate themselves to the sacred act of bringing nourishment and harmony through food, especially rice — the staple of life. They believe that a grain of rice is both humble and divine: a symbol of survival, gratitude, and unity. These paladins act as guardians of fields, kitchens, and feasting halls alike, seeing every harvest and meal as a blessing to be defended.

Tenets of the Inari
  • The Oath of the Inari reflects reverence for food as a gift of the divine, and the duty to use it to unite and sustain.
  • Honour the Grain. Rice is sacred. Treat food with reverence, and do not waste what sustains life.
  • Feed the Needy. A full belly brings peace; a hungry belly invites despair.
  • Foster Harmony. Meals are bonds. Protect the sanctity of shared food, and resolve conflict around the table.
  • Guard the Fields. Defend crops, kitchens, and those who labor to bring forth the harvest.
  • Serve with Gratitude. Approach every act of cooking, sharing, and protecting with humility and joy.

Oath Spells

  • 3rd Goodberry
  • 5th Aid, Spiritual Weapon (manifesting as a rice pestle, ladle, or fox-spirit avatar)
  • 9th Create Food and Water, Beacon of Hope
  • 13th Aura of Purity, Guardian of Faith (guardian appears as a fox spirit with a rice sheaf)
  • 17th Heroes’ Feast, Commune with Nature

Channel Divinity

Blessing of the Rice Bowl. As an action, you present your holy symbol and invoke Inari’s bounty. You and a number of creatures up to your Charisma modifier within 30 feet regain hit points equal to 2d6 + your paladin level, and are considered nourished for 24 hours as if they had eaten a full meal.
Foxfire Wrath. You summon divine foxfire into your weapon or a cooking implement. For 1 minute, the weapon deals radiant or fire damage (your choice) and glows with a warm, golden-white light that smells faintly of rice steam.

Aura of Plenty (7th Level)

The blessings of Inari follow you like the scent of cooked rice. Allies within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed. In addition, once per short rest, any ally who begins a rest within your aura can gain nourishment as though they had eaten a full meal, even if no food is available.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Harvest’s Gift (15th Level)

The divine power of rice and the harvest flows through you. You are immune to disease and poison. In addition, once per long rest, you can spend 10 minutes blessing food. Up to six creatures who eat it gain temporary hit points equal to your paladin level + your Charisma modifier, and they are immune to being frightened until their next long rest.

Avatar of Inari (20th Level)

At 20th level, you can assume the form of Inari’s chosen avatar — a radiant figure crowned with rice stalks, foxfire glowing at your feet. As an action, you undergo this transformation for 1 minute:
A 30-foot aura of bounty surrounds you. Allies who start their turn in the aura regain hit points equal to your Charisma modifier.
Enemies in the aura must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed by your presence, unable to willingly attack others until the start of their next turn.
Any food or drink in the aura is blessed — it becomes purified, multiplied, and tastes like freshly steamed rice.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
