Base Class: Wizard
To wizards, sorcery is a confusing and chaotic mess, but there are those who seek to find ways to replicate its power. Through careful study of the art of sorcery, you have come close, and are able to do things that some other wizards only dream of. Though the power of sorcery is reserved only to those who are born with the natural talent, through hard study and diligence, your magic can partially replicate the bending and rule breaking that a sorcerer's metamagic is capable of.
Sorcery Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the time you must spend to copy a wizard spell that is also on the sorcery spell list into your spellbook is halved. The gold you need to spend on the same action is reduced by 10gp per spell level.
Chaotic cantrips
Beginning at 2nd level, you can affect the way your cantrips deal damage. As part of your action to cast a cantrip, you can imbue that cantrip with sorcerous power. For every damage die that you roll max damage with (a 4 on a d4, a 6 on a d6, etc.), you add an additional damage die of the same type to the spell (these dice also gain this benefit).
The maximum amount of additional damage dice you can add to your spell is equal to your spellcasting modifier.
You gain one free use of this feature per short or long rest.
At higher levels: You gain 2 more free uses of this ability, one at level 6, and the other at level 10.
Metamagic Conversion
At level 6, you have learned how to mimic the way metamagic reshapes a spell's effects. When you cast a spell with a spell save DC, you can use this feature to change the spell save ability to any other ability you choose (example, changing the fireball dexterity save into a strength save). This ability can only be used on spells of 6th level or lower.
You gain one free use of this ability per short or long rest.
At higher levels: At level 10, you gain another free use of this feature per short or long rest.
Metamagic Upcast
At 10th level, you have learned to upcast spells in a more natural way by using your knowledge of a sorcerer's Metamagic. When casting a spell of any level, you can use a bonus action to cast that spell at one spell level higher than the spell slot you are using to cast it. This cannot be used to cast spells of a level you are incapable of casting at your current wizard level.
You gain one free use of this feature per long rest.
Increased Metamagics.
Starting at 14th level, you gain 4 sorcery points (these combine with any sorcery points you may already have from multi-classing or any feats you may have taken, and are usable on those things). These sorcery points can be recovered by taking a long rest, and you recover 1 sorcery points upon taking a short rest.
You can spend these sorcery points to reuse previous abilities without needing to take a long rest first:
Chaotic Casting costs 1 sorcery point to reuse.
Metamagic Conversion costs 1 sorcery point to reuse.
Metamagic Upcast costs 2 sorcery points to reuse, but if you spend 3 sorcery points, you can upcast a spell by 2 levels higher than the spell slot you used.
At higher levels: At level 17, you gain an additional sorcery point (for a total of 5).
