Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Dwarven Troll Slayer is an illustration of the strange personal psychology that dooms many young Dwarves to short and violent lives. Young Dwarfs who have been disgraced, crossed in love, or otherwise humiliated will abandon conventional Dwarven society and go to seek death, hunting down the most ferocious of beasts. Most of them die fairly quickly, but those few who survive become members of the strange cult of Troll Slayer. Troll Slayers exist only to die and, by doing so, redeem whatever disgrace they suffered in the past (and into which it is neither polite nor wise to enquire). They seek death by deliberately seeking uneven battles - going alone into Goblin strongholds is one example. Trolls are considered the ideal opponents, because the Dwarf's death is almost a certainty. Troll Slayers can be recognised easily by their hair, which is spiked and dyed orange, and by the many tattoos which cover their bodies. They also favour exotic jewellery, such as earrings and nose plugs. They spend a great deal of their time boasting of their exploits and showing off their many scars and often indulge in bouts of overeating, fasting, and excessive consumption of stimulants.

Restriction: Dwarves Only

Only dwarves can follow the Path of the Battlerager. The battlerager fills a particular niche in dwarven society and culture.

Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction exists for the Forgotten Realms. It might not apply to your DM’s setting or your DM’s version of the Realms.

Additionally, death saves are made at disadvantage.

Unstoppable Force

You lose the ability to wield a shield, used ranged weapons (except thrown), or wear armor.

You gain Fighting Style in Great Weapon Fighting, Dueling, Protection, or Two Weapon Fighting.

You also gain the feat Tavern Brawler.

At 6th level your unarmed attacks count as magical.

Reckless Abandon

Beginning at 6th level, when you use Reckless Attack while raging, you also gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). They vanish if any of them are left when your rage ends.

Battlerager Charge

Aggressive As a bonus action, you can move up to your speed toward an enemy of your choice that you can see or hear. You must end this move closer to the enemy than you started.

You may shove a creature as a part of the bonus action, but only to push them 5 feet, not to knock them prone.

Retribution

When a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to attack them back.

If the attack would drop you to zero, you can use your reaction to make a full attack action at advantage, but you automatically fail one death saving throw.
