Base Class: Gunslinger
Where other Gunslingers rely on instinct and chance, Runic Gunslingers rely on meticulous craft.
They carve glowing sigils into their firearms and inscribe their ammunition with elemental runes, channeling raw arcane power through gunmetal and grit.
Each shot is a spell in motion; each rune, a law of battle rewritten.
Level 3: Runic Engraver
Runic Attachment.
You can spend 1 hour during a Long Rest to inscribe a single Runic Attachment onto one firearm you touch.
The runes hum with latent energy, granting your weapon special magical properties.
You can change the rune whenever you finish a Long Rest.
Runic Knowledge.
You gain proficiency in Arcana. You can create and read runic markings even if you lack tools.
Level 3: Runic Ammunition
When you roll damage with a ranged weapon, you can expend one Risk Die to infuse the shot with an elemental rune.
Choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage.
The target takes extra damage equal to the number rolled on your Risk Die of the chosen type.
Level 3: Runic Attachments
Your weapon can hold multiple inscribed runes as you grow stronger, unlocking greater control and complexity.

Level 6: Runic Array
Your mastery of inscription grows, allowing you to maintain multiple runes simultaneously.
-
You can maintain two Runic Attachments on your firearm at once.
-
When you roll Initiative, you may elect to take an initiative of 1 and immediately switch one of your active runes for another on the list.
-
Additionally, when you use Runic Ammunition, you may force the target to make a Strength saving throw (DC = your Maneuver DC).
On a failed save, it is either pushed 10 feet or restrained by glowing runes until the start of your next turn (your choice).
Level 10: Sigil of Suppression
Runic Mastery
Through mastery of forgotten inscription rites, you bind three runes upon your weapon, their powers entwined beneath your will.
Sigil of Suppression
When you hit a creature with a ranged attack, you can expend one Risk Die to mark the target with a binding sigil.
The target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = your Maneuver DC).
On a failure, choose one effect:
-
Arcane Silence. The creature can’t cast spells or activate magic items until the end of your next turn.
-
Gravity Seal. The creature’s movement speed becomes 0 until the start of your next turn.
You can use this feature once per turn.
Level 14: Battlefield Engraver
Runic Strategist
Your command of runic strategy reaches new heights, allowing you to orchestrate the power of four inscriptions in perfect, enduring harmony.
Runic Field
As a Bonus Action, you can expend two Risk Dice to inscribe a Runic Field in a 20-foot-radius area centered on a point you can see within 60 feet.
The field lasts for 1 minute (Concentration).
-
Allied Empowerment. Allies inside the field can add your proficiency bonus to their damage rolls with ranged attacks.
-
Enemy Hindrance. Enemies that start their turn inside the field must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = your Maneuver DC) or have their speed halved and take elemental damage equal to one expended Risk Die (of the Runic Ammunition type chosen when you created the field).
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a Short or Long Rest, unless you expend three Risk Dice to recharge it (no action required).
