Base Class: Monk
Behind every blow dealt in battle there is force. You have become attuned to the intricacies of this force and learned how to redistribute kinetic energy, emboldening your own strikes by dealing back some damage that has been dealt to you. You take hits so that you can deal them back to enemies with concussive power.
Kinetic Redistribution
You have learned how to redirect mundane damage that is targeted at you by either strengthening your next attack, or aiding yourself in movement.
At 3rd level when you are hit with an attack that deals Bludgeoning, Slashing or Piercing damage, you are able to absorb some of the incoming damage. Spend 1 Ki point and roll your martial die and reduce the damage by that amount. You may choose to expend this kinetic energy in one of the following ways:
- This damage may be redirected into your next Unarmed Strike as additional Force damage.
- During your next turn, you may increase your movement speed by double the amount of damage absorbed.
This feature may only be used once per round of combat.
Enhanced Redistribution
Having been exposed to more types of damage, your Kinetic Redistribution feature can now absorb any damage type except Psychic damage. Additionally you gain the following benefits from using this ability:
- All damage that is redistributed counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming non-magical resistance.
- You may choose to convert this damage to Force damage or keep it as the original damage type when using this ability with an attack.
- If you use this ability to increase your movement speed, all creature within 5 ft. of you when activating the ability take Force damage equal to the amount rolled on your martial die.
- If you have used this ability to reduce damage, you may choose to use that force to end the Prone condition on yourself without expending movement.
- When you are grappled by a creature, you may reduce damage taken by the creature grappling you by a roll of your martial die. If you do so, you have Advantage on saving throws to break free from the Grapple.
Kinetic Step
You have learned how to exert force to compact air and move as though it is but another surface for you to run on.
You can spend 3 ki points to gain a flying speed equal to half your walking speed for 1 minute. If you are not standing on solid ground at the end of your turn when using this ability, you will fall to the ground.
Protective Absorption
You have honed your reach to absorb energy. When targeted by an attack or spell that would deal damage to you and other targets within range, you may spend 3 Ki points to extend your protective reach. Roll 2 of your martial die and reduce the damage taken by you and all allies within a 10ft. sphere originating from you. Immediately after being hit by the triggering attack, you may take a reaction to make a ranged attack roll against the attacking creature, dealing the amount of absorbed damage on a hit. This damage retains the original damage type.
Kinetic Overflow
There is kinetic energy in almost every action you do. You have learned how to absorb all of this energy and convert it into lethal force. You may spend 5 Ki Points and take an Action to unleash this kinetic energy. Each creature within a 20ft. radius from you must make a Dexterity Saving through. On a failure, each creature takes 10d10 Force damage and is knocked prone. Additionally, all ground within range becomes difficult terrain. You are not affected by this difficult terrain.
