Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The power of the Genies runs through your veins. Perhaps one of your ancestors was one of these powerful beings or maybe your birth was influenced by one. Regardless you have inherited special magical abilities thanks to it.

Genie bloodline

At 1st level, you choose one type of genie as your ancestor. The movement type associated with each genie is used by features you gain later.

You can speak, read, and write Primordial. Additionally, whenever you make a Charisma check when interacting with genies, your proficiency bonus is doubled if it applies to the check.

Primordial Resitances

As primordial magic flows through your body, it creates special magical defenses. Select 2 of the following damage types to gain resistance against: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lighting, or Thunder

Lesser Wish

Starting at 6th level, you can instantaneously cast a spell from any spell list, as a sorcerer spell, without needing the verbal, somatic, or material components that aren't consumed provided that you have the available spell slot to cast the spell with. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest. Spells cast this way cannot be affected by meta-magic.

Also at you gain 2 additional cantrips from any spell list. These cantrips count as sorcerer spells for you.

Genie Movement

At 14th level, you gain the movement speed that corresponds with you ancestry. Additionally, as a bonus action you can transform your legs to an elemental tail of your ancestry type (Dust, Wind, Fire, Mist) or back. Any clothing or items attached below your waistline is either magically stored until you restore your legs or dropped to the ground (your choice). The tails provide no additional benefits (ex. the fire tail isn't hot).

You can also cast disguise self and alter self at will.

Greater Wish

Beginning at 18th level, magic permeates through your entire being. You may use the Lesser Wish feature an unlimited number of times, you can also use meta-magic on spells cast this way, and you no longer need material components for spells that revive the dead.

Additionally, you learn the wish spell, this spell does not count against the total number of spells known. You suffer none of the drawbacks to casting the wish spell and have no chance of losing the ability to cast it. If you already know the wish spell you select another sorcerer spell to learn.

Creator Note

When somebody thinks genie they generally will tend to think of either Genie from Aladdin or the classic Djinn from Arabic folklore. The general idea of a genie in today's culture is a magical being that can magically do anything, the who Infinite Cosmic Powers sort of vibe so when creating this class I wanted to really capture that same feeling. I made the class on the basis of the wish spell being the core element of the sub class.

I also feel that this class fixes in some way the biggest limitation/flaw of the Sorcerer class which is its criminally low spell selection. Not only is it not a prep class like a cleric or wizard but it also only learns one new spell a level and switch one spell during a level up. This creates very limited options. The lesser wish feature grants the character the ability to cast a spell from any spell list once per short rest greatly increasing the versatility of the class but the meta magic restriction keeps it from being too over-powered an ability.

If the character reaches level 18 the lesser wish gets upgraded to greater wish and the restrictions get removed. I made this choice because once you reach level 17 your characters essentially reach demigod status and at that point you can go a little crazy with the abilities (I mean there is a 17th level monk ability that is an actual save or die and even if you save you still take crazy damage and on top of all of that the ability can be completely untraceable back to the monk. I mean if that's not broken I don't know what it). The other features in the class are more to tie it back to the genies in the game though it plays a little more loosely than those in the monster manual.
