Druid
Base Class: Druid

Standing on the battlefield clutching his Elemental Focus, wreathed in flame and ice, a halfling manages to block the incoming blow from her enemy by calling forth the elements to shield herself.

Flying high above the landscape, an aarakocra elementalist uses the wind to guide their wings, seeing an incoming rock slide, she manages to not only save her party, but manipulate the elements to guide the rocks to a safe location.

As the mage throws a lightning bolt at her ally, a human whose skin looks like stone causes the earth to erupt around him, blocking the incoming attack.

Whether you are the first in your family or you come from a long line of elementalists, there is something about your genetic makeup that allows you to be a conduit for the elements. Your strength of mind and fortitude of body makes you the ideal candidate to tame the uncontrollable, working with the elements instead of just controlling them. There is much to learn, but you are more than capable of achieving this task. You are destined for great things, either working for the good of all or using the power for the elements for personal gain.

The Power of Elements

In order to become a conduit for the elements, you must have the mental and physical fortitude to control the power of the elements. One of the ways an elementalist does this is using the pool of elemental power within themselves. They can draw on this pool to augment their spells, change their physical and mental characteristics, and even aid their allies in unique ways.

Learning to Channel

An Elementalist must spend time in tune with the elements to learn their spells each day. While they hold the power within themselves to bend the elements to their will, they must memorize the movements and correct words to channel them properly. To do this, they must keep a journal of instructions showing the way they must move and the exact wording of each incantation, taking time each morning to review and memorize the precise instructions.

Creating an Elementalist

When making an elementalist, consider how your character wants to wield the elements. Maybe your character has seen how fire can destroy or how water can heal. Maybe your character was touched by the elements through a ritual of their clan or a natural disaster. How the elements have affected your character's life and how that influence has shaped their opinion of them is what will determine how your character wants to channel the elements.

Why are you adventuring? Have you always been in one place, protecting a portal to one of the elemental planes but now the portal is inert? Are you nomadic, traveling from place to place, gathering knowledge and restoring balance? Do you believe that someone with such great power has the great responsibility to assume leadership or, what's more, deserves to be in charge? Whatever the impetus, the elements are the motivation.
