Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

This subclass has taken inspiration from Matt Mercer's Path of Fundamental Chaos but adapted it to 2024 D&D rules to be more in line with the design ethos of 2024 barbarian subclass design in the 2024 PHB.

This is a very chaotic and complex subclass designed specifically so for those looking for something chaotic and with a view to force the barbarian to adapt to ever changing circumstances based on what rage emanations are rolled.

Chaotic Resilience

When you rage or as a Bonus Action on subsequent turns, you can gain 1d4 of temporary hit points.

The amount of temporary hit points increases at higher levels, becoming 2d4 at 8th level and 3d4 at 14th level.

These temporary hit points disappear if your rage ends.

Fundamental Chaos

When you enter your rage, you produce an emanation with 15ft radius around you. Roll on the Chaos Rage table to determine the effect produced by the emanation.

The effect lasts as long as your rage is maintained. You gain additional effects at levels 6 and 14 as shown in the table.

If the effect requires a saving throw, the DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.

1

Gravity: Whenever a hostile creature willingly makes contact with or starts their turn in the Emanation they must make a Strength saving throw or be pulled up to you.

Gravity: You cannot be moved against your will or be knocked prone and hostile creatures inside your emanation suffer disadvantage on attacks against creatures other than you.

Gravity: When you make an attack of opportunity on a creature and hit, that creatures speed is reduced to 0.

2

Time: Whenever a creature of your choice makes contact with or starts their turn in the Emanation they can increase their turn in the initiative order by an amount equal to double your proficiency bonus. The initiative order changes at the start of the next round and a creature can only benefit from this once per combat encounter.

Time: Whenever a creature of your choice starts their turn in the Emanation they can make a weapon Attack as a bonus action. This weapon attack only rolls the weapon damage die for damage.

Time: Whenever a hostile creature willingly makes contact with or starts their turn in the Emanation they must make a Constitution saving throw or have -2 to their AC until the start of their next turn.

3

Space: when an attack is made from or to a creature inside the emanation, you can choose for the damage to transfer and hit you instead.

Space: At the start of your turn choose one creature of your choice who is in contact with or inside the emanation to have resistance to all incoming damage until the start of your next turn. You can only select one creature other than yourself per round to gain this benefit.

Space: When you take the Attack Action, you can teleport up to 30 feet right before you make the first attack.

4

Probability: Anyone of your choice who is in contact with or starts their turn in the emanation can add 1d4 to their attack rolls. This effect lasts whilst they remain in contact with the emanation.

Probability: Anyone of your choice who is in contact with or starts their turn in the emanation can use their ability score if the ability check total they roll is lower than the score it relates to when performing an ability check. This effect lasts whilst they remain in contact with the emanation.

Probability: You can double the radius of your emanation.

Fractured Retort

When a hostile creature causes damage to you, you can use your Reaction to immediately enter a rage before you calculate damage.

If you are already raging, you can instead use your Reaction to roll on the Chaos Rage table again. This effect replaces your current Chaos Rage table effect.

At level 14, this changes one of your current effects.

Chaos Surge

During your turn, you can choose to disable the use of your Chaotic Resilience by willingly discarding your temporary hit points. Doing so doubles the radius of your emanation and the next creature of your choice to make a saving throw in your emanation can add your Constitution Modifier to the saving throw. A creature can benefit from this bonus to saving throws once until the start of your next turn.

If you use Chaotic Resilience, you don't gain the benefit of this feature.

Entropic Rage

When you enter a rage, roll twice on the Chaos Rage table and have both effects of the emanation active.

If you roll the same number on both dice, you may choose any two options on the Chaos Rage table.
