Less concerned with instruments and performing, the College of Journalism teaches how to find the truth and promote the flow of information, good or bad. Journalism Bards are storytellers who weave magic and truth together by finding the facts and sharing what they've discovered.

Spread the Word

At Level 3, your ability to share your story is improved. When you use Bardic Inspiration, you can expend any number of uses to grant Bardic Inspiration to the same number of creatures, including yourself.

In addition, any creature with one of your Bardic Inspiration dice can communicate the literal meaning of spoken or signed words, regardless of language.

Investigative Journalism

At Level 3, you've become adept at finding the facts, and finding them fast. You gain the following features:

Street Smarts. When you make an Intelligence check, you gain a bonus to the check equal to your Charisma Modifier (minimum of +1)

Headliner. You can take the Study action as a Bonus Action.

Muckraker

At Level 6, you know how to fling some of the dirt you've dug up on your enemies. You know the Vicious Mockery cantrip. If you already know it, you learn a different Bard cantrip of your choice. The cantrip doesn’t count against your number of cantrips known. Additionally, you can add your Charisma modifier to Vicious Mockery's damage rolls.

In addition, whenever a creature within 60 ft of you targets you or another creature that has one of your bardic inspiration dice with a melee or ranged attack, you can use a Reaction before the attack roll to cast Vicious Mockery on that creature. You can use this Reaction a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus.

Editorial

At Level 14, you've become a master at controlling the narrative. When casting a spell you can alter it using the following features, each once per long rest:

Extra, Extra!: Double either the Range, Duration, or Area. Alternatively you target add an additional target.

This Just In: Change the casting time from 1 action to a bonus action. As part of this bonus action, you can take the Study action.

Additionally you gain the following ability that you can use once per long rest:

Retraction: You can expend a spell slot as a reaction to have any creature within 60 ft reroll any die immediately after rolling it, and they must use the new roll.

These effects cannot be combined.
