Base Class: Barbarian
Most barbarians rage against steel and blood, but you rage against the arcane. Those who follow the Path of the Arcane Devourer are not content to merely endure magic; they consume it.
Shunned by both wizards and warriors, Arcane Devourers are born from cursed bloodlines, ancient rites of unraveling, or grim survival in lands steeped in spellfire. They feel the pulse of sorcery like a predator feels prey, and in their fury, they drink deep from the Weave itself—tearing spells apart and feeding on their power.
To a Devourer, magic is not mystery or miracle. It is meat.
Devourer's Hide
You’ve trained—or mutated—your body to channel arcane energy through brute resilience. While raging, the fabric of spells twists around your skin like wind around stone. At 3rd level you gain resistance to all damage from spells while raging.
Arcane Instincts
You’ve faced mages so often that your gut knows their intentions. You can read spellwork as easily as body language—and twist it into your weapon. At 3rd level you gain proficiency with arcana and can recognize spells that are being casted at you if you can see the caster. If you are targeted by a spell that deals damage, you can use your reaction to absorb some of that energy, your weapon now deals the type of damage you were dealt instead until the end of your next turn.
Devourer's Barrier
You hurl yourself into spellfire, using your flesh and fury to shield your allies. Pain is your price—and their salvation. At 6th level, if you are targeted as part of a spell that has an Area of Effect, you can choose to fail the roll. If you do so, you forgo your resistance to the spell. All other allies also targeted by the spell will automatically succeed on their saving throws. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Devour Magic
When a caster’s focus falters, you lunge at the unraveling magic and rip it into yourself—twisting its power to serve your wrath. At 10th level, if you break a target's concentration on a spell, you can use your reaction to absorb the spell and gain the benefits of it yourself and if it requires concentration, you may maintain the spell even while raging. If it is a spell that deals damage such as cloud of daggers, fire storm, etc., the spell and all effects caused by it end as well as you gaining Xd6 temporary hit points where X is the level of the spell.
Mind of Iron
Your hatred for the arcane has calcified your mind. Spells that once bewildered now slide off you like rain off iron. At 10th level, you gain advantage on saving throws against spells and when you use Devourer's Barrier, you no longer lose your resistances to spells.
Mirror of Rage
With a roar, you catch the arcane assault in your hands and fling it back at its maker—raw, wild, and fueled by fury. At 14th level, when you use your Devourer's Barrier, you may use your reaction and now also reflect the spell at the spell caster who casted the spell. By doing so, your allies will take no damage if in the original area of effect. If you reflect a spell in this way and it requires concentration, you may maintain the spell even while raging. Any effects that require a save DC will use 8 + proficiency bonus + constitution modifier.
