Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians of this path are empowered by the fires of the Elemental Plane of Fire. Whether due to their lineage or a run in with a force of elemental power at a young age- their every blow carries elemental fire.

Flaming Blows

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your melee attacks carry with them elemental fire. Whenever you hit a creature with a melee attack whilst you are raging you deal additional fire damage equal to half your barbarian level (rounded up).

In addition, whilst raging, Flames lick across your body. The flames don’t harm you or your possessions, and they shed bright light out to 10 feet and dim light for an additional 10 feet. While the flames are present, when any creature within 5 feet of you hits you for the first time on a turn with a melee attack they take 1D4 fire damage. This damage increases to 1D8 at level 11, and to 1D12 at level 17.

Intensified Heat

Beginning at 6th level, your soul of fire intensifies- as well as your own resistance to flames. Whilst raging you gain resistance to fire damage, or immunity if you already have resistance to fire damage from another source.

In addition, any fire damage you deal ignores resistance to fire damage (But not immunity).

Heart of the Blaze

Beginning at 10th level, as you come closer to death, your blazing soul only burns brighter. Whenever damage would reduce you to below half of your maximum hit points, you may use a reaction to activate this feature. Alternatively, you may use a bonus action on your turn to activate this feature so long as your hit points are below half their maximum.

When this feature is activated, you create a small burst of flame- centred upon yourself. Any creature within 5 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or take fire damage equal to 1d8, taking half damage on a failed save.

After this feature has been activated, you gain the following benefits until the end of your rage:

  • Your movement speed is doubled.
  • You gain a +2 to your AC.
  • You gain an additional action on your turn, that can only be used to take the Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action.

When your rage ends, you must make a constitution saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier), suffering a level of exhaustion on a failure.

You may use this feature once, recovering all uses on a long rest. You gain a second use of this feature at level 17.

Sundering Strike

Starting at 14th level, you may focus the unrestrained fire within you into a single, devastating attack. As an action whilst raging, you strike a surface within 5ft- creating an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 15-foot radius must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + Your Proficiency Bonus + Your Constitution Modifier). A target takes 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried. If you are currently under the effects of your 'Heart of the Blaze' feature, the fire damage is increased to 6d6.

Alternatively, you may use this feature upon hitting a creature with a melee attack whilst raging. If you do so- that attack deals an additional 8d6 fire damage in addition to it's normal damage, and the target creature must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + Your Proficiency Bonus + Your Constitution Modifier) or be forcibly moved 20ft away from you, ending this movement prone. If you are currently under the effects of your 'Heart of the Blaze' feature, the fire damage is increased to 10d6.

Using this feature causes your rage to end early. If you are using your 'Heart of the Blaze' feature, you must make a constitution saving throw as normal.

You may use this ability 3 times, regaining all uses on a long rest.
