Base Class: Monk
The Way of the Drunken Master teaches its students to move with the jerky, unpredictable movements of a drunkard. A drunken master sways, tottering on unsteady feet, to present what seems like an incompetent combatant who proves frustrating to engage. The drunken master’s erratic stumbles conceal a carefully executed dance of blocks, parries, advances, attacks, and retreats.
A drunken master often enjoys playing the fool to bring gladness to the despondent or to demonstrate humility to the arrogant, but when battle is joined, the drunken master can be a maddening, masterful foe.
Brewmaster
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with Brewer's Supplies. You can spend 4 hours to brew 4 doses of a special monk alcohol, called Ki Brew, requiring 1 gp of ingredients for the 4 doses. You can have no more than 4 doses of the special alcohol brewed at a time.
As a bonus action, you can drink one of the doses of Ki Brew. When you do, you gain 2 Ki Points and become poisoned for 1 minute. When you are poisoned from your own brew, you can spend an action to make a constitution saving throw. On a DC 15, you are no longer poisoned.
Staggering Defense
You can add your Constitution, rather than your Wisdom, to your Unarmored Defense.
As long as you are poisoned, all attacks against you have disadvantage.
As long as you are poisoned, you have advantage, rather than disadvantage, on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
Whenever you miss with an attack while poisoned, you can move up to 10 feet without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Intoxicated Ki
At 6th level, you gain new ways to channel your ki. You can only use these abilities while poisoned.
- Breath of Fire: As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to spit alcohol and ignite it, allowing you to cast Burning Hands.
- Clarity of Mind: As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point. If you do, you no longer have disadvantage on attacks or ability checks this turn.
- Healing Brew: As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point and expend a dose of your Ki Brew. If you do, you regain hit points equal to 1d8 + your Constitution modifier.
Supernatural Stagger
As long as you are poisoned, you have resistance to all damage except psychic damage.
Perfected Recipe
At 17th level, your Ki Brew has been perfected. Being poisoned by your own alcohol does not cause you to have disadvantage on attacks or ability checks.
Whenever you drink a dose of Ki Brew, you gain 6 Ki Points rather than 2, and you gain hit points equal to your Monk level.

Posted Sep 20, 2020Legitimately very cool idea, but at level 10 monks get Purity of Body which makes you immune to disease and poison. So do the ki brews become useless after level 10?
