Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

When a mortal’s rage burns too hot, it may attract the attention of the Lower Planes. Those who walk the Path of the Damned channel fiendish energies through their fury, transforming themselves into a living echo of demonic power. Whether cursed, chosen, or defiant, these barbarians embrace their damnation—wielding it as a formidable weapon against all who stand before them.

Demonic Fury

Beginning when you choose this path at 3rd level, the ferocity of your rage twists your form into something truly terrifying. When you enter your rage, each creature within 20 feet of you that can see or hear you must make a Wisdom saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. On a failed save, a creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn. Furthermore, while you are raging, you gain the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on attack rolls against creatures frightened by you.
  • Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause it to take an extra 2d4 fire or necrotic damage (your choice).

Abyssal Thirst

Also at 3rd level, you feed off of the pain and death you inflict. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points or score a critical hit, you can regain a number of hit points equal to one roll of your barbarian Hit Dice. If the creature was frightened, you add your Constitution modifier to the healing you receive.

Aura of Torment

At 6th level, your demonic presence sears and crushes those who dare stand against you. While you are raging, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you take fire or necrotic damage (your choice) equal to your Rage Damage bonus at the beginning of their turns.

Fiendish Resilience

At 10th level, the dark power you wield makes you nigh-impervious to fire and death. You gain resistance to fire damage and necrotic damage. When you enter your rage, you can choose to become immune to one of these damage types instead. In addition, you gain the following feature:

Demonic Glare. When you take damage from a creature within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to glare at it with demonic fury. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. On a failed save, it is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Unholy Presence

At 14th level, you embody the true terror of a demon. You gain the following benefits:

  • You are immune to the frightened condition.
  • frightened creatures within your Aura of Torment take double damage from it and can’t regain hit points.
