Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Echoing Fist learn to project semi-independent echoes of themselves, striking from multiple positions at once. Their mastery of ki and martial precision allows them to create shadowy duplicates that fight alongside them, turning the battlefield into a dance of rapid, coordinated strikes.

Shadow Echo

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to manifest a shadowy echo of yourself using your ki.

Echo Traits

  • The echo is tangible for attacks but intangible for physical effects—it cannot take damage from anything except magical effects, be grappled, or moved.

  • The echo has AC = 10 + your Dexterity modifier + Monk level divided by 2 and HP = your Monk level multiplied by 2. If reduced to 0 HP, it disappears.

  • The echo has your unarmed strike damage and uses your attack bonus. It cannot use ki features on its own.

Echo Assault

Your mastery allows your echoes to fight with more independence. You also get a choice of one out of three optional traits.

Defensive Echo

Your echo can interpose itself to protect allies. When an ally within 5 feet of your echo is targeted by an attack, you can spend 1 ki point to impose disadvantage on the attack roll, as your echo briefly shifts to block or distract.

Dual Strike Echo

When your echo makes an attack, it can attack two different creatures within 5 feet of each other instead of just one, splitting your Martial Arts die evenly (rounded down) between the two attacks.

Mobile Echo

Your echo can move up to 10 feet on your turn without using your action, staying within 30 feet of you.

Shadow Step Echo

Your echoes grant you unmatched battlefield mobility and multi-strike potential. You also can create two echoes at once, each costing 2 ki points. Each echo can make independent attacks as described in previous levels.

You may choose one of the following options to specialize your echoes: Explosive Echo or Phasing Echo.

Explosive Echo

When your echo is reduced to 0 HP, it can immediately explode in a burst of ki, dealing 1d4 + your Martial Arts die Force damage to all creatures within 5 feet (Dex save for half, DC = 8 + proficiency + Dexterity modifier).

Phasing Echo

Your echoes can now move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain, maintaining their position within 30 feet of you.

Perfect Echo Mastery

Your mastery allows you to fight as a legion of martial shadows.

You can maintain up to three echoes at once, each costing 2 ki points.

Once per long rest, you can swap places with any echo as an action, avoiding damage from hazards or falling.
