Base Class: Barbarian
Where other barbarians take up the blade, the Sagittarius hones their skill with the bow. Following the example of the centaur Chiron, they temper their rage with knowledge of medicine, art - and poison.
Nobody expects the Bowbarian. At least, not until it’s too late.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you take this subclass at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Medicine and Performance. If you already possess proficiency in either of these skills, you gain proficiency in a skill or tool of your choice instead.
Level 3: Powerful Draw
As a Sagittarius, you focus your rage to allow you to fire arrows with unparalleled might. While raging, you gain the following benefits:
- When you attack with a longbow, you can use Strength instead of Dexterity for the attack and damage rolls. In addition, you can add your Rage damage bonus to the attack’s damage roll.
- Your ranged weapon attacks do not suffer disadvantage from hostile creatures in melee range.
- Your Reckless Attack feature now grants advantage on ranged weapon attacks in addition to melee weapon attacks.
Level 6: Natural Cure
- You end the blinded, deafened, frightened, paralyzed, or poisoned condition affecting the creature.
- The creature regains 1d8 Hit Points for each poultice used on this effect.
- The creature gains temporary hit points equal to your Rage damage bonus for each poultice used on this effect.
- The creature’s level of exhaustion is reduced by 1 stage. It regains this exhaustion after a long rest.
Level 10: Point Blank
As a Sagittarius, you do not shy away from the bow when your enemies face you - you relish in the opportunity to see the fear in their eyes as they perish. When you hit a creature within 5 feet of yourself with a ranged weapon attack against a creature, it takes 1d8 additional piercing damage.
Level 14: Toxic Toxophile
When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack using an arrow, you can deal 4d8 additional poison damage and inflict the poisoned condition on the creature for 24 hours. While poisoned in this way, the creature takes 1d8 additional poison damage whenever it takes piercing damage.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
