Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Some warlocks forge pacts with an entity that exists in the dark milliseconds between footsteps, a being known by many titles: The GapwalkerThe Eclipse Runner, or The Shadow. It is motion without form, shadow without stillness—an impossible creature that occupies every spot you aren’t looking at. Its servitude grants the ability to blur across battlefields, bend shadows, and fracture time in rapid bursts.

The Umbra, when directly aiding the player, they take the form of a cloudy black mass with a set of teeth. The Umbra itself is cocky, yet informative, scarily informative . The Umbra is malevolent and will take over or discard your body if the time called for it. However, if it sees you as something that will move his goals forward, then it will gladly bless you with shadowy abilities that will greatly aid you. Just try not to rely on him.

Shadowstep Initiate

Your patron grants you fluidity between darkness and motion.

  • Shadowstep: As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is dim light or darkness.

    • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all uses on a long rest.

  • Swift Ambush: After using Shadowstep, the next melee or spell attack you make before the end of your turn deals extra psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier    (minimum of 1).

Pace-Bound Reflexes

  • When a creature you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to distort your pace:

    • You gain resistance to the attack’s damage after you know it hits.

    • You can immediately move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses on a long rest.

Eclipsing Spirit

  • Whenever you take the Dash action, you become heavily obscured (including to creatures with darkvision) until the start of your next turn. A swirling cloak of shadow trails your movement.

  • While obscured in this way, attack rolls against you have disadvantage, and you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

  • Additionally, you gain a climbing speed of 35 while in dim light or darkness.

Avatar of the Phantasm

You can enter an Phantasmic Surge as a bonus action.

While in Phantasmic Surge, you gain the following benefits:

• Shadow-Quickened

Your speed increases by 10 feet, and opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

• Shadow-Instincts

You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws, and you can add your Proficiency Bonus to Arcana checks.

• Arcane Riposte

Once per turn when you hit a creature with a weapon attack or damaging cantrip:

  • You deal extra force damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

• Blurred Form

Creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against you if you have moved at least 15 feet on your turn.

Limitations & Rules

Duration

An Phantasmic Surge lasts for 4 turns or until combat ends (which ever one happens first)
It ends early if:

  • You are incapacitated, or

  • You end your turn having not attacked or cast a spell that deals damage since your last turn.

(Instead of losing it from “not attacking,” you lose it from not exerting arcane pressure.)

Uses

You can use Phantasmic Surge twice, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

At 16th level, you gain a third use.
