Druid of the Broken Circle

A druid forever trapped in their last Wild Shape—corrupted, reshaped, and never again human.

đźś‚ Overview

Some circles teach unity. Others teach survival. But the Circle of the Broken Circle teaches nothing—because no druid survives its teachings unchanged.

A Broken Circle druid is not trained—they are shattered.

When a druid draws upon Wild Shape at a moment that threatens powerful beings—an archfey, demon prince, devil lord, or twisted god—those entities may unleash a ritual known as The Splintering. This ritual severs the druid’s spiritual bond to the Circle and permanently fuses their Wild Shape into their flesh.

For you, this means your humanoid body is gone forever.
Your true and only form is a corrupted cat—a liminal creature of shadows, thresholds, and instincts.

Trapped in living Wild Shape, Broken Circle druids wield unstable primal energy that flickers with fey corruption, infernal heat, abyssal shadow, or drowned natural hunger.

Some wander the world seeking restoration. Some embrace the beast they have become.
All of them are feared.

Origins of the Splintering

The Splintering is not a curse.
Not a disease.
Not a punishment.

It is an intentional dismantling of a druid’s soul.

Only beings who understand the metaphysics of Wild Shape can perform it—primarily malevolent fey, demons, devils, and fallen nature gods.

Their goal is simple:
To silence, claim, or break a druid who stands in their way.

Sidebar: Scholar’s Notes

“The Splintering is an adoption of sorts—only the new parent hates what it has claimed.”
— Professor Kelian, Lunar Arcanum

Accounts Across Lustria

Voices from the people:

“She screamed like her bones were folding the wrong way.
Then she was… just a cat.
A cat that stared at me like it knew my whole life.”

— Dockworker, Hidun

“If a cat watches you too long in Low Tides, don’t blink.”
— Market saying

“Milk soured for days after she crossed the Fenlands.
The crows bowed to her, though.”

— Farmer Tellen

Why the Powerful Break Druids

Reasons vary, but they share one theme:

The druid became a problem.

  • They protected land the fey desired.

  • They disrupted a demon’s spreading rot.

  • They unraveled a secret meant to stay buried.

  • They refused to bend to a god’s will.

Infernal testimony:

“Mortals bind themselves to vows. We merely correct their overconfidence.”
— Graxitor, Devil of Interrupted Oaths

The Burden of the Permanent Form

Your humanoid body is gone.
Your beast form is not a disguise—it is your soul, rewritten.

You are:

  • A cat-bodied druid who retains language, memory, magic, and intelligence.

  • A creature forever caught between feral instinct and mortal purpose.

  • A living example of a Circle bond destroyed and reformed into something unnatural.

Survivor’s account:

“It wasn’t pain like a wound. It was pain like being erased.”
— Kaela Thornpaw
