Base Class: Warlock
The Chronal Worm is not a creature of the present, nor the past, nor any future that may one day come to be. It is a presence felt only in the silence between heartbeats, the breath before a spell resolves, the quiver of regret before a memory fully forms. It feeds not on flesh, nor on thought, but on the discarded moments the world fails to notice—lost seconds, miscast intentions, the frayed edges of what could have happened but didn’t. Warlocks of the Chronal Worm are vessels for this hidden hunger. They learn to slip through stalled instants, devour the residue of spells, and rewrite the smallest slices of time. In the eyes of their patron, existence is a filmstrip—frames that can be consumed, skipped, replayed, or erased. Such warlocks carry a faint stutter in their aura, like reality itself hesitates around them.
Level 3: Interval Slip
Your patron grants you access to slivers of stolen time. You gain Interval Charges equal to twice your proficiency bonus, regained on a long rest. You can use up to one charge every round.
Interval Slip Actions (1 charge):
- Cast a Cantrip: You cast a cantrip you know. Eldritch Blast produces only one beam regardless of level.
- Temporal Step: Move 10 ft without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Temporal Interference: Impose disadvantage on an attack targeting you.
- Second Chance: Reroll a failed saving throw.
- Temporal Disruption: Blind, deafen, or disorient a creature on a failed Con save.
Spell Devouring (Reaction): When a creature within 60 ft casts a spell, you may devour its residue. Gain charges as follows:
- Cantrip: 0
- 1st–3rd level: +1
- 4th–6th level: +2
- 7th–9th level: +3
This does not counter the spell; it still resolves normally. Spell Slot Conversion: Spend charges equal to slot level to regain a spell slot.
Level 3: Chronal Worm Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Chronal Worm's Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Shield, Blur, Mirror Image, expeditious Retreat |
| 5 | Counterspell, Dispel Magic |
| 7 | Banishment, Dimension Door |
| 9 | Hold Monster, Wall of Force |
Level 6: Echo Eater
Whenever you cast a spell using a pact slot, choose one effect:
- Temporal Rebound: Extra damage or healing = Charisma modifier.
- Forgotten Potential: Gain +1 Interval Charge
- Erased Intention: Target has disadvantage on next attack/check/save.
- Symbiotic Repetition: Cast a cantrip as part of the same action. (Eldritch Blast is limited to one beam)
Level 10: Break the Timeline
Once per short rest, step outside time for 1 round: you are untargetable, invisible, and immune to damage. Your movement provokes no opportunity attacks. When the effect ends, immediately take two full turns back-to-back. Eldritch Blast gains psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus. You may cast one spell using Interval Charges instead of a spell slot. Also when using cast a cantrip from Interval Slip, you can now cast 2 beams of Eldritch Blast if you use that with the ability.
Level 14: Devour the Second
Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you enter a Chronophage state for 1 minute:
- Reality Erosion Aura (30 ft): Enemies of your choice have disadvantage on attack rolls, saves vs your spells, and concentration checks.
- Interval Cascade: Gain 1 Interval Charge at the start of each turn and 1 free Interval Slip action per turn.
- Spell & Effect Consumption: End any 5th-level-or-lower spell automatically; higher effects require a dispel check. Gain 3 charges.
- Conceptual Erasure: When you kill a creature, all hostile creatures forget it existed and become frightened of you for 1 round. The erased creature cannot be resurrected except by Wish.
