Base Class: Sorcerer
“They keep asking where my magic comes from. A dragon? A demon? A god?
No. It’s simpler and much more dangerous.
I looked at her, decided I would never let anything take her from me…
and the universe apparently took that as a binding contract.”
Spell list is wonky! Lets you pick the lvl 9 spells at lower levels. Will fix soon!!
Your magic doesn’t come from bloodlines or ancient pacts—it erupts from a singular, overwhelming connection. Somewhere along your life’s path, your heart latched onto another soul so fiercely that reality itself started to bend around that bond.
Heartbound sorcerers wield magic shaped by devotion, protection, jealousy, longing, and joy. Some are lovers, some are siblings, some are found-family who swore they’d never be alone again. Whatever form it takes, your power is not religious or dogmatic; it is stubbornly, intensely personal.
People might call you a heartbound, a lovesworn, or a soul-link mage. You just know this: as long as that bond endures, so will you.
Subclass Features

|---|---|
| 3rd | Heartbound Spells, Bound Heart, Devoted Aegis |
| 6th | Shared Soul |
| 14th | Radiant Devotion |
| 18th | Eternal Bond |
Level 3: Heartbound Spells
At 3rd level, Your very soul is tied to another, and your magic naturally expresses that connection.
When you reach a Sorcerer level specified in the Heartbound Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared. These spells count as Sorcerer spells for you and don’t count against the number of spells you prepare.
Heartbound Spells
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | charm person, heroism, calm emotions, warding bond |
| 5 | beacon of hope, hypnotic pattern |
| 7 | aura of life, guardian of faith |
| 9 | greater restoration, Rary’s telepathic bond |
Level 3: Bound Heart
Also at 3rd level, Your magic crystallizes around one irreplaceable connection.
At the end of a Long Rest, you can choose one willing creature you know. That creature becomes your Bound Heart until you choose a different creature, you die, or they die.
While your Bound Heart is alive, you gain the following benefits:
-
Emotional Compass. While you and your Bound Heart are on the same plane of existence, you always know the direction to them and their approximate distance (to the nearest 10 feet).
-
Empathic Link. While you are within 60 feet of your Bound Heart, you can communicate telepathically with each other, sharing words, images, and emotions. The creature must understand at least one language.
-
Joined Resolve. While you and your Bound Heart are within 30 feet of each other, you both gain a +1 bonus to saving throws against being Charmed or Frightened.
If your Bound Heart dies, you immediately know. You can’t choose a new Bound Heart until you finish a Long Rest.
Level 3: Devoted Aegis
Your first instinct is to protect the one you love, even at a cost to yourself.
When your Bound Heart takes damage and you can see them within 60 feet of you, you can use your Reaction and spend 1 Sorcery Point to invoke this protection:
-
Your Bound Heart gains Resistance to that instance of damage.
-
You take the same amount of damage they take after Resistance is applied (this damage is of the same type).
If you would be immune to that damage type, you are instead resistant to it for this shared damage.
This feature represents a single burst of protection; you decide to use it after you know the damage total but before it is applied.
Level 6: Shared Soul
Your bond lets your magic flow between you and your Bound Heart.
While your Bound Heart is within 30 feet of you, you gain the following benefits:
Mirrored Boon
When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher that targets only you or only your Bound Heart, you can choose to have the spell also target the other of you, provided they are within 30 feet of you.
-
The spell must be incapable of normally targeting more than one creature at its current level (similar to the restriction for the Twinned Spell Metamagic).
-
You can use this feature once without spending Sorcery Points, and you regain that free use when you finish a Short or Long Rest.
-
Each additional time you use it before finishing a Long Rest, you must spend 2 Sorcery Points.
Overflowing Care
Whenever you or your Bound Heart regain Hit Points from a spell you cast of 1st level or higher, the other regains Hit Points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1), as long as the other is within 30 feet of you.
Level 14: Radiant Devotion
Your love becomes a visible, anchoring presence that shields minds and hearts.
Aura of Devotion
You emit a soothing, steadying aura in a 10-foot radius while you’re not Incapacitated. You and friendly creatures (including your Bound Heart) in the aura gain the following benefits:
-
Advantage on saving throws against being Charmed or Frightened.
-
Whenever a creature in the aura ends its turn while Charmed or Frightened, it can immediately repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success.
Love’s Reversal
When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you attempts to Charm or Frighten you or your Bound Heart, you can use your Reaction and spend 2 Sorcery Points to turn that power back on its source.
-
The Charm or Fear effect automatically fails against you and your Bound Heart.
-
The creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC or be Charmed by you for 1 minute.
-
While Charmed in this way, the creature regards you as someone it deeply trusts or feels compelled to listen to. The Charmed creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
(This doesn’t require the effect to be a spell—any Charm/Fear effect that calls for a save can be bounced.)
Level 18: Eternal Bond
Your connection transcends distance, danger, and even death’s shadow.
Unfailing Link
Your empathic telepathy with your Bound Heart functions regardless of distance and across planes, as long as you’re both alive.
You still instinctively know the direction to them, though distance beyond 1 mile is expressed as “far,” “very far,” or “unreachable” rather than in feet.
Free Aegis
When you use Devoted Aegis on your Bound Heart, you no longer spend Sorcery Points.
In addition, whenever you use Devoted Aegis on your Bound Heart, you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of them as part of the same Reaction.
Heart’s Apotheosis
Once per Long Rest, you can use your Action and spend 5 Sorcery Points to fully awaken the magic of your bond for 1 minute. When you do so, the following effects occur:
-
You and your Bound Heart each gain 20 temporary Hit Points.
-
You both shed soft light in a 10-foot radius and gain a flying speed of 30 feet.
-
Once per turn, when you or your Bound Heart hit a creature with a weapon attack or deal damage with a spell, you can add radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier to one target damaged by that attack or spell.
-
At the end of each of your turns, choose you or your Bound Heart. The chosen creature regains Hit Points equal to your Charisma modifier (if they have at least 1 Hit Point).
If your Bound Heart is not on the same plane of existence as you when you activate Heart’s Apotheosis, you still gain its benefits; your Bound Heart only gains them if they are on the same plane.
