Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

The Chaos domain belongs to gods of pure anarchy - deities who embody the ideas of entropy, decay, and randomness. These can be gods who love the ideals of carefree existence, such as Corellon Larethian and Yondalla, or gods who threaten the very fabric of reality, like Tharizdun or Dendar the Night Serpent. These gods fall widely on the spectrum of good and evil, as do their clerics and priests. All Chaos clerics are of a non-lawful alignment and uphold the ideals of change and alteration, entropy, and decay. They see the underlying randomness of the multiverse and have chosen to worship it in one of its many forms. They, like the deities they serve, are ever-changing and often fickle, and it’s difficult to determine where their loyalties lie.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with martial weapons and heavy armor.

Acolyte of Chance

Also starting at 1st level, you gain a pool of d6s, called your Chaos Well, which you can spend as part of an action when you make a roll or as a reaction when your opponent makes a roll. Flip a coin. On heads, you add the result of the die roll. On tails, you subtract the result. Your Chaos Well has as many dice as your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one). You can spend only one die from your Chaos Well  per turn. You regain all uses of your Chaos Well when you finish a long rest.

Channel Divinity: Harness Chaos

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to embrace the inherent randomness of the universe. When you make an attack roll, skill check, or saving throw, you present your holy symbol as part of the action and flip a coin. On heads, count the roll as a critical success. On tails, count the result as a critical fail.

See the Fabric

Beginning at 6th level, you can see the true nature of the universe and use it to inform your future actions. As an action, you can spend a Chaos Well die in advance of a roll you intend to make. This roll must be made within 24 hours of your use of the Chaos Well die and you can only use one on each future roll.

In addition, you gain greater mastery over your own inner chaos. Your Chaos Well die becomes a d8.

Potent Spellcasting

Starting at 8th level, you can add your Wisdom modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrip. Alternatively, you can spend one use of your Chaos Well and add the result of the roll. This lasts until your next long rest, after which you must spend another use or use your Wisdom modifier. If you choose to use a Chaos Well die, you must take the result over your Wisdom modifier.

Scholar of Anarchy

At 17th level, your god grants you insight into the nature of chaos, giving you great power over it. After a long rest, roll a d10. The result is one of the ten domain spells available to you in the order presented above. Whichever result you get, that spell can now be cast once at its lowest level without expending a spell slot before your next long rest. If you want to cast it again, you must spend a spell slot as normal.

In addition, you gain utter mastery over the roiling chaos within you. Your Chaos Well die becomes a d10, and you regain all uses of your Chaos Well after a short or long rest.
