Base Class: Barbarian
Path of the Battered Knuckle
Barbarians who walk the Path of the Battered Knuckle are forged not on battlefields, but in the rough-and-tumble crucibles of rowdy taverns, underground brawling rings, and illegal fighting pits where rules are optional and dignity is negotiable. These warriors aren’t disciplined monks, nor graceful martial artists—they’re survivors of bruised knuckles, shattered chairs, spilled ale, and rooms full of opponents who underestimated a drunk.
For them, Rage is not just fury—it's the wild, staggering momentum of a tavern brawl: unpredictable footwork, reckless swings, sudden bursts of clarity, and the stubborn refusal to fall down when any normal person would already be unconscious. A Battered Knuckle barbarian learns to weaponize their entire body, turning headbutts, knee strikes, elbows, grapples, and improvised tavern debris into devastating techniques.
Veterans of this path often bear crooked noses, scarred fists, and broken smiles. They are feared in the fighting pits where coin changes hands faster than punches. In taverns, they are equal parts legend and liability. And in adventuring parties, they are unpredictable but invaluable allies—unstoppable once the brawl begins and eerily comfortable in the kind of chaotic melee that sends others scrambling for cover.
Whether they learned their craft from pit fighters, debt-ridden gladiators, rowdy mercenaries, or drunken mentors with nothing left but fists and stories, these barbarians embody the raw truth of battle: sometimes the best weapon is whatever you can throw while standing on unsteady legs—and sometimes that weapon is you.

Pit-Fighter Slam
6th-level Path of the Battered Knuckle feature
While you are raging and have a creature grappled, you can use a bonus action to make a special melee attack called a Slam against that creature.
Slam Attack.
A grappled creature your size or smaller, you slam into the ground adjacent to you, dealing 1d6 bludgeoning damage to them and anyone else in the same space they now occupy. The target is now prone, and anyone they hit must make a dc18 Strength save or also fall prone. If they succeed the save, they take half the damage. This damages increases to 2d6 at level 10 and 3d6 at level 14.
Bloodrush Resilience
Bloodrush Resilience
10th-level Path of the Battered Knuckle feature
Pain doesn’t slow you down—it wakes you up. The sting of a fresh bruise, the copper taste of your own blood, the ringing thrill of a good punch to the jaw… these are what sharpen your instincts and drive you deeper into the brawl. As long as you’re bleeding, battered, or bruised, your fighting spirit burns hotter than ever.
You gain the following benefit:
-
When Raging and Bloodied, you have advantage on all saving throws.
This represents your heightened awareness and battle-focus when the fight gets messy—your pulse spikes, adrenaline floods your limbs, and your body refuses to quit.
Level 14: I Can Do This All Day
I Can Do This All Day
14th-level Path of the Battered Knuckle feature
You simply don’t know how to quit. Even on the brink of death—blood in your mouth, vision swimming, bones cracked—you rise again with a grin and a challenge. Crowds swear they’ve seen you fall a dozen times in the pits, only for you to stand right back up like nothing happened.
When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to roar defiantly and roll 1d100, regaining hit points equal to the number rolled.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
