Base Class: Bard
The College of Invigoration teaches that art is not a thing that ends when the final note fades. A song leaves warmth in the chest. A rhythm steadies shaking hands. A movement lingers in the muscles long after the performer has passed. Where other bards inspire through emotion or command through spectacle, Invigorators work through continuity—the quiet, stubborn refusal of life to stop moving.
To these bards, performance is a kinetic force. Music flows like breath through a body, surges like blood through veins, and spills outward into the space around it. When an Invigorator plays, vitality itself seems to slough off the melody, drifting through the battlefield as motes of lingering strength. These remnants do not demand attention or ceremony. They simply wait, ready to be claimed by motion alone.
Invigorators are often found where exhaustion would otherwise claim the day. On long marches, their steps keep pace with the rhythm of boots on stone. In sieges, their songs echo between crumbling walls, sustaining defenders who should have collapsed hours ago. On the battlefield, they do not shout orders or issue challenges; instead, they keep people standing, even when standing no longer makes sense.
Philosophically, the College of Invigoration rejects the idea of heroic singular moments. They do not believe victory is won by a single perfect strike or a climactic crescendo. Instead, they believe survival is earned step by step, breath by breath, motion by motion. Where others craft legends, Invigorators ensure there are people left alive to remember them.
To travel with an Invigorator is to feel the road grow shorter, the nights less punishing, and the fights more bearable than they have any right to be. Their art does not promise glory. It promises endurance.
And sometimes, endurance is everything.
Never the Last
At 3rd level, your magic sheds lingering sparks of restorative energy called vital motes.
Whenever you expend a use of Bardic Inspiration, or cast a spell using a spell slot of 1st level or higher, you create a vital mote in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of one creature affected by the feature or spell (your choice if multiple creatures are affected).
- A vital mote is ethereal and does not obstruct movement.
- A vital mote is consumed when you or an ally moves into or through its space.
- This includes voluntary movement, forced movement, falling, jumping, or any other effect that causes a creature to pass through the space.
- When consumed, the creature regains hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
- A creature can consume only one vital mote per turn, unless stated otherwise.
- You can have a number of vital motes existing at one time equal to your Charisma modifier. If creating a mote would exceed this limit, the oldest mote dissipates.
- A vital mote lasts for 1 minute or until consumed.
The appearance of your motes reflects your art—drifting notes, ripples of light, painted strokes in the air, or echoes of breath and motion.
Note: Only you and your allies can consume vital motes. An enemy entering or passing through the space does not consume it.
Invigorating Flourish
Additionally, when a creature uses a Bardic Inspiration die you granted, you immediately create one additional vital mote.
This mote can appear in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of a creature you can see within 30 feet, even if that creature was not affected by the inspiration.
Renewing Cadence
At 6th level, your vitality art does not diminish—it cycles.
A creature can consume up to two vital motes during its turn.
- The first mote consumed heals as normal.
- If a creature consumes a second mote on the same turn, that mote does not heal. Instead, it transforms into renewed inspiration, and the creature gains one Bardic Inspiration die from you.
This Bardic Inspiration:
- Is the same die size as your current Bardic Inspiration
- Follows all normal rules for use and duration
- Can be gained only once per turn from this feature
Overflowing Vitality
At 14th level, your performances now radiate life in excess.
- The healing provided by your vital motes increases to twice your Charisma modifier (minimum of 2).
- When you roll Initiative, you immediately grant one Bardic Inspiration die to the ally you can see within 60 feet who has the lowest current hit points (your choice if there is a tie).
- This inspiration does not count against the number of Bardic Inspiration dice you can grant on that turn.
