Base Class: Monster Hunter
Not all monsters recoil from steel. Many laugh at it.
The Silver Saints were founded on a harsher doctrine: if silver is the bane of corruption, then the purest weapon is a hunter whose very blood carries it. Through sacred rites and painful transfusions, members of this guild replace portions of their blood with consecrated silver.
Each strike stirs the metal within their veins, strengthening their blows while slowly poisoning their body. A Silver Saint grows stronger the longer they fight, but the price of that strength is paid in flesh and blood.
Seer of Scent
When you take this hunting guild at 3rd level, the silver within your blood sharpens your predatory instincts.
You gain proficiency in Perception. If you already have it, you gain Expertise instead.
Additionally, you have Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track creature types in your Monster Grimoire.
Argent Blood
At 3rd level, the ritual of the Silver Saints has infused your bloodstream with sanctified silver, forever altering the nature of your body and the weapons you wield. Your weapon attacks count as Silvered for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities.
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you may choose to take necrotic damage equal to your level (this damage ignores resistance and cannot be reduced) to agitate the silver within your veins, gaining 1 Silver Strain. When you take this damage, the silver further crystallizes within your bloodstream, reducing your maximum hit points by an amount equal to your current number of Silver Strain multiplied by your proficiency bonus. This reduction lasts until you finish a long rest.
You can gain Silver Strain only once per turn, and remains in your system for 1 minute. You can hold a maximum of 2 Silver Strain.
The silver circulating through your body strengthens your strikes despite the toll it takes on your vitality; for each Silver Strain you currently have, your weapon attacks deal an additional +1d4 radiant damage.
Silver Touched Tips
At 7th level, the silver circulating through your veins now actively reinforces your strikes.
Your maximum Silver Strain increases to 4. Your bonus damage becomes +1d6 per Silver Strain. When you hit with a weapon attack as part of Studied Response, you may gain 1 Silver Strain without taking damage, or triggering the maximum hit point reduction.
Volatile Circulation.
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack while you are at maximum Silver Strain, you can cause the silver within your bloodstream to surge violently. If you do, roll 1d8 and apply the corresponding effect to that attack:
| d8 | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | The silver lashes back at you. You take 2d6 necrotic damage (this damage ignores resistance and cannot be reduced) |
| 2-4 | The strike destabilizes your body. You take 1d6 necrotic damage (this damage ignores resistance and cannot be reduced), but the attack deals +1d6 radiant damage. |
| 5–7 | The silver flows cleanly. The attack deals +2d6 radiant damage |
| 8 | The silver erupts outward. The attack deal +2d6 radiant damage and the creature is blinded until the end of its next turn. |
Purified Blood
At 10th level, your body has adapted to the silver coursing through your veins, allowing you to channel its power with greater precision. You gain resistance to poison damage, and immunity to the [conditions]poisoned[/conditions] condition. Your maximum Silver Strain increases to 6.
Argent Clotting. You are able to localize your blood clotting factors to allow to protect right as an attack hits. When you are hit by an attack, you may use a reaction to expend any number of Silver Strain to reduce the damage by 5d10 per Silver Strain expended + your Monster Hunter level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Argent Overdrive
At 15th level, your body can withstand even greater quantities of silver. Your maximum Silver Strain increases to 8.
Additionally, you can deliberately flood your body with silver, pushing yourself far beyond safe limits. As a Bonus Action, you may take 50 necrotic damage (this damage ignores resistance and cannot be reduced) and reduce your maximum hit points by 25 to enter a state of Argent Overdrive for 1 minute. While in this state:
- You ignore the normal limit of gaining only 1 Silver Strain per turn, but you may only gain 1 Silver Strain per attack.
- At the start of each of your turns, you gain 1 Silver Strain without taking damage, or triggering the maximum hit point reduction.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
Argent Ascendany
At 18th level, your body can withstand even greater concentrations of silver. Your maximum Silver Strain increases to 10.
You can unleash the silver within your veins in a devastating surge of power. At the start of your turn, while you are at maximum Silver Strain, you may enter a state of Argent Ascendancy until the end of that turn. While in this state:
- Your weapon attacks deal additional radiant damage equal to 1d8 for each point of Silver Strain you have instead of 1d6 given by the Argent Blood feature.
- You have Advantage on weapon attack rolls.
- When you take the Attack action, you can make one additional weapon attack as part of that action.
At the end of the turn, the violent surge of silver tears through your body. You take 100 necrotic damage (this damage ignores resistance and cannot be reduced). If you are reduced to 0 hit points by this feature; you gain 1 stack of exhaustion which can only be removed by a long rest.
Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
