Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Crushing your enemies, seeing them laid low before you, and causing the lamentations of their children… These events fuel the hearts of barbarians. Some clans, however, take things even further, pursuing their foes even after death and consuming them. These barbarians follow the Path of the Cannibal, feasting on the flesh of their enemies, and using their enemies’ bodies to fuel and empower their own.

Feared for their savagery and literal thirst for blood, these clans are known for causing terror in the hearts of even the stoutest warrior. In addition to the taste, and beyond basic sustenance, some of these barbarians claim their practice lets them know their enemies on a level unlike any other, even to the point of becoming them.

Flesh Eater

Starting at 3rd level, you can gain strength from eating your prey. While raging, you may make an unarmed Bite attack as a bonus action against an enemy. If it hits, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + Proficiency bonus. You rip off and eat the flesh of your foe, gaining temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt. You lose your hit points when your rage ends.

Additionally, you may spend a short rest Feasting on an enemy corpse up to one size greater than you. Whenever you use a hit die during this short rest to regain hit points, you can treat a roll of 5 or lower as a 6. Immediately after you complete Feast, lose one point of exhaustion and regain 1 hit die.

Iron Stomach

At 3rd level, you gain immunity to poison and disease as a result of ingesting things.

Savor

Some enemies provide better flavor than others, warranting more special attention. Starting at 6th level, after successfully Biting an opponent, you may Savor their taste. You have advantage on attacks against enemies you have Savored. You may only Savor one enemy at a time. If you bite and Savor another enemy, they become your new Savor, and you lose benefits against the previous Savor.

When an enemy within 10 ft sees you Savor one of their allies, they must make a Wisdom saving throw of DC 10 + your Constitution and Strength modifier or be frightened of you until the end of their next turn.

Grave Marrow

At 10th level, you learn to suck the very essence of life from the bones of your enemies, putting them even deeper into the grave and granting you protection from death. For up to 4 hours after you Feast on an enemy, or until you Feast on a new enemy, the first time you would drop to 0 hit points as a result of taking damage, you instead drop to 1 hit point, and this protection ends. An enemy feasted upon cannot be raised as undead until your protection from death ends.

Additionally, you may cast the spell Speak with the Dead on any corpse you have tasted, with salt as the material component. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Flesh of my Flesh

At 14th level, you have become able to take power from the flesh you consume and become one with the essence of your meals. After you Savor or Feast on an enemy, you know and gain all their resistances, immunities, and senses. You understand any languages they speak.

This effect lasts until you Savor or Feast on another enemy, or until you finish a long rest.
