Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Jesters are performers of chaos and precision, masked tricksters who weaponize mockery, blades, and spectacle. They blur the line between entertainer and assassin, using humor as misdirection and cruelty as timing.
Level 3: Mask On / Mask Off
You fight in two states: Unmasked and Masked. You begin combat unmasked.
Mask On: As a bonus action, you may expend one Bardic Inspiration die to don your mask for 1 minute.
While your mask is on:
When you take an action to attack, you may throw two daggers as part of the same action.
Your daggers deal 1d6 damage instead of 1d4.
Once per turn, you may add your Charisma modifier to the damage of one dagger attack.
When you cast Vicious Mockery, the target has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next turn.
Mask Off: While your mask is on, you may remove it as a bonus action, immediately ending Mask On. When you do, you gain the benefits of Dash and Disengage until the end of the current turn. This does not cost a Bardic Inspiration die.
Level 3: Jester’s Arsenal
You gain proficiency with daggers and thrown weapons if you don’t already have it. Additionally, daggers you wield count as bard weapons and your spellcasting focus. You may use Charisma instead of Dexterity for attack and damage rolls with daggers you throw.
Level 6: Deadly Punchline
When a creature within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hp by an attack or fails a saving throw against your vicious mockery, you may use your reaction to throw a dagger at a different enemy within 30 feet of you.
Level 14: Deck of Fools
When you activate Mask On, draw a card from a Deck of Cards.
The card’s number is added to the damage of your next dagger attack or vicious mockery before the end of your turn, Jack, Queen, King = 10, Ace = 11.
Each suit also adds a one-time effect:
-
Hearts – You regain hit points equal to the card’s value.
-
Diamonds – The attack ignores resistance to piercing damage.
-
Clubs – The target is knocked prone if it is Large or smaller.
-
Spades – The target has disadvantage on its next saving throw before the end of its next turn.
If you draw a Joker:
-
The attack automatically crits
-
You immediately regain the expended Bardic Inspiration die
