Base Class: Barbarian
The Balor doesn’t describe a single recognizable silhouette so much as it gestures toward a theory that every cell that makes a being shares a role in combat. One who chooses the Path of The Balor can command their bodies to redevelop in response to threatening external conditions, often fully regenerating their physical scaffolding. However, a Balor barbarian is usually only useful in environments that are extremely hostile and able to provide the raw energy their bodies demand. Some who have survived a fight against a Balor in their rage have described attack made against it "like shooting angry water", as one paladin put it.
Followers of this path were first encountered by paladin missionaries who traveled between towns to cure the deathly ill. They didn't know what to do when they found an isolated civilization that had embraced a rampant cancer-like disease; which locals had kept at bay by butchering one another in brutal combat, their bodies tearing apart the flesh from those around them. But upon discovering the origin of this mutation originated from a devil, the paladins had begun slaughtering these barbarians out of fear of this illness spreading. It was there that the paladin ultimately defeated the hidden devil and its Balors – and there that their forces hoped the sickness could be contained. Thankfully, without the devil to manipulate the sickness, it naturally spread no further than it's host. The barbarians of this civilization who followed the Path of The Balor were integrated into society, being able to function relatively well with some medical assistance.
Today, some barbarians seek the help of doctors or clerics to willingly infest their bodies with this cancer, which had been extracted from those already infected. It is a dangerous path of pain these few walk, but one of volitile endurance.
Level 3: Closer
When you make a successful attack with weapons or Unarmed Strikes, you may pull your target up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space. If the target is already adjacent to you, their movement speed is reduced by 5 feet until the end of their next turn.
Additionally, a creature that starts it's turn within 5 feet of you takes Force damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your Barbarian level.
Level 6: Regeneration
When you start your turn in Rage, roll a number of d4 equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and gain that many Temporary Hit Points. If you're still in Rage by the start of your next turn, any remaining Temporary Hit Points are converted to Hit Points, which are instantly added to your current Hit Points-This must resolve at the start of your turn, before you gain more Temporary Hit Points from this feature.
Upon a short rest, you may expend one use of your Rage to return your current Hit Points to your Hit Point maximum, healing you completely.
Level 10: Shredding Embrace
When a creature within 5 feet of you takes damage, you can take a Reaction to deal Force damage to the creature. The Force damage you do is equal to the Force damage of your Closer feature. If this additional damage kills a creature (not just reduces them to 0 Hit Points), you regain a number of Hit Points equal to half the Force damage, and the creature's body is destroyed.
Additionally, the Force damage of your Closer feature is doubled while in Rage.
Level 14: Perpetual Flesh
As a Bonus Action, you can volatility heal by siphoning the life of those around you. When you do so, each creature of your choice in a 30-foot Emanation originating from you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus your Strength modifier and Proficiency Bonus). On a success or failure, a creature takes Force damage equal to the amount of Temporary Hit Points you have. On a failed save, a creature takes the same damage again at the end of each of it's turns and repeats the save, ending the effect on itself on a success.
After you use this feature, you reroll 1s when gaining Temporary Hit Points from your Regeneration feature for the next 10 minutes.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a use of your Rage (no action required) to restore your use of it.
