Base Class: Barbarian
The Spell-Eater. A barbarian fueled by raw, volatile magic rather than just anger.
Bloodragers do not study magic; they are infected by it. Perhaps you survived a magical experiment, were born in a wild magic zone, or have dragon blood that runs too hot. When you Rage, you don't just get angry - you crackle with arcane energy.
Level 3: Blood Casting
Your rage unlocks a crude, instinctive form of magic. You learn the False Life and Misty Step spells. They count as Barbarian spells for you, and Constitution is your spellcasting ability for them.
-
Rage Casting: You can cast these spells even while you are Raging.
-
Vitality Component: You can cast each of these spells once without expending a spell slot. When you do so, you take Necrotic damage equal to 1d4 per level of the spell (this damage cannot be reduced). You regain the ability to cast them in this way when you finish a Short or Long Rest.
Level 3: Crimson Shield
The magic in your blood protects you. When you enter your Rage, you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to twice your Barbarian level. While you have these Temporary Hit Points, you have Resistance to Force damage.
Level 6: Magic Eater
You can punish those who try to bend reality around you. When you succeed on a Saving Throw against a spell or magical effect, you can use your Reaction to force the caster to take Force damage equal to your Strength modifier + your Constitution modifier. If the spell was 1st level or higher, you also regain one use of your Rage.
Level 10: Sunder Magic
Your strikes disrupt the weave of magic.
-
Magical Strikes: Your attacks with weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity.
-
Disruptive Blows: When you hit a creature that is concentrating on a spell, they have Disadvantage on the Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration.
-
Dispelling Critical: If you score a Critical Hit against a creature affected by a spell of 3rd level or lower (like Bless or Haste), that spell immediately ends on them.
Level 14: Arcane Cataclysm
You become a void of magical destruction. While you are Raging:
-
You have Advantage on all Saving Throws against spells.
-
If a creature within 30 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your Reaction to move up to your speed towards them and make a single melee weapon attack.
