Base Class: Wizard
Arcane Archers practice an ancient elven technique that encodes spellcraft into the geometry of the bow and the path of the arrow. This tradition is often associated with the faithful of Solonor Thelandira, who teaches that patience, awareness, and precision are the truest expressions of mastery.
To these mages, an arrow is not merely a weapon but an extension of perception — a line drawn between hunter and horizon, guided by calm focus and an intimate understanding of distance, wind, and moment. Arcane Archers shape their magic to travel as cleanly and surely as a well-loosed shaft, striking only when the shot is certain.
Spellbow Training
Spellbow Training (2nd level)
You gain proficiency with shortbows.
you gain proficiency with once ranger skill of your choice
You can use the bow you are wielding as an arcane focus for your wizard spells.
Your study of elven spell-archery blends wizardry with techniques traditionally taught to rangers. The entire ranger spell list is considered part of the wizard spell list for you.
Whenever you learn a wizard spell or add one to your spellbook, you can choose from the ranger spell list as well as the wizard spell list. These spells count as wizard spells for you.
Hunter’s Focus
2nd-level Arcane Archer feature
You can enter a heightened state of calm awareness that sharpens your movement and lets your magic flow along the path of your arrows.
As a bonus action, you enter your Hunter’s Focus, which lasts for 1 minute. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
While in this focus, and while you are not wearing medium or heavy armor and are wielding a bow, you gain the following benefits:
-
Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
-
You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
In addition, while this focus is active, when you cast a wizard cantrip with a range other than Self, you may deliver the spell through a bow attack instead of its normal method of delivery. The spell’s range becomes the normal range of the bow. If the cantrip requires an attack roll, you use the bow attack roll in place of the spell’s attack roll. If the cantrip normally requires a saving throw, it does not when cast in this way. When you deliver a cantrip in this way and hit with the bow attack, the attack deals its normal weapon damage and the cantrip’s damage and effects.
Extra Attack
6th-level Arcane Archer feature
You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Moreover, you can cast one of your wizard cantrips in place of one of those attacks.
Spellshot Mastery
10th-level Arcane Archer feature
You have mastered the art of binding prepared magic to your shots.
When you cast a wizard spell of 1st level or higher that either requires an attack roll or forces a creature to make a saving throw, you may make one ranged weapon attack with a bow as part of the same action.
On a hit:
- The spell originates from the creature struck
- If the spell deals damage, the bow’s damage is added as force damage
- The spell and range weapon attack ignore half cover and three-quarters cover
You can use this feature once per turn, and a number of times per long rest equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once).
Arcane Barrage
14th-level Arcane Archer feature
You can unleash a devastating volley of spell-laced arrows.
While Arcane Draw is active, once per use of Arcane Draw, when you cast a wizard spell of 3rd level or lower, you may immediately make a ranged weapon attack with a bow against each creature affected by the spell, up to a maximum number of creatures equal to your Intelligence modifier.
- Each hit deals the bow’s normal damage as force damage
- If a creature fails its saving throw against the triggering spell, it has disadvantage on the first saving throw it makes against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn
