Base Class: Monk
Legends say the Way of Breakpoint was first taught to mortals by a master known only by the same name, whose strikes were so precise that they fractured not just the body, but the soul as well. Monks of the Way of Breakpoint strike with deadly precision, learning to find and exploit the smallest weaknesses in their foes. Where others rely on speed or strength, they focus on timing and accuracy, turning every successful hit into a calculated advantage. With each carefully placed strike, they carve invisible fractures in their enemies’ defenses, guiding allies and amplifying damage until even the strongest opponent is left broken and vulnerable.
Level 3: Crippling Strike
When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike or your monk weapons and deal damage, you can spend 1 Focus Point to force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failed save, the creature gains a Crippling Wound until the end of a short or long rest.
While a creature has a Crippling Wound, your unarmed strikes score a critical hit on a roll of 19–20 against it. This benefit stacks up to a minimum critical range of 17–20.
Level 6: Relentless
Your strikes grow deadlier against those already weakened by your attacks. You gain the following benefits:
- When you hit a creature afflicted with Crippling Wound, add your Wisdom modifier to the damage roll. You may only gain this benefit if you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield.
- You gain proficiency in the Perception and Insight skills.
Level 6: Hit ’Em Where it Hurts
As a reaction, you can spend 2 Focus Points to guide an ally toward a creature afflicted with Crippling Wound. Choose one ally within 5 feet of you who is also within 5 feet of the affected creature. That ally gains the following benefits until the start of your next turn:
- Advantage on attack rolls against the affected creature.
- Your Relentless damage bonus.
This feature does not grant your ally the expanded critical hit range from Crippling Strike or the benefits of Pointbreak. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Level 11: Satisfactory
When you reduce a creature afflicted with Crippling Wound to 0 hit points with a critical hit, you can use your reaction to restore a number of Focus Points equal to the Focus Points spent to apply Crippling Wound to that creature. You can use this feature an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Level 11: Guard Break
Your understanding of your foes’ weaknesses grows with experience. When a creature affected by your Crippling Wound succeeds on a saving throw against your Crippling Strike, it has disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes against your Crippling Strike before the start of your next turn.
Level 17: Pointbreak
Your mastery of weak points reaches its peak. You gain the following benefits when attacking creatures afflicted with Crippling Wound:
- When rolling damage with your unarmed strikes or monk weapons, you may roll two additional martial arts dice. You may choose to deal this extra damage as either force or bludgeoning.
- When you score a critical hit against a creature afflicted with Crippling Wound, that creature is considered vulnerable to the damage type of that attack.
You may not gain these benefits if you are wearing armor or wielding a shield.
