Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who follow the Path of the Ashen Guardian are living relics of bloodsport and flame. They were not taught to rage — they were trained to survive. Their fire was not born in freedom, but in chains. Instead of unleting their breath outward like other dragonborn, they turn it inward, cloaking themselves in burning fury and becoming walking infernos of muscle and memory.
An Ashen Guardian’s rage is not wild; it is ritualistic, shaped by years of combat before roaring crowds. Each swing echoes the arena. Each breath carries smoke from a past that refuses to die.
To witness an Ashen Guardian rage is to see a gladiator reborn — a warrior crowned in fire, shackles melting from spectral wrists, eyes glowing like forge coals.
Level 3: Ashen Rage
When you enter a Rage, you may choose to ignite your body with internal flame. While raging; Your body is wreathed in flickering embers and heat distortion. Your melee weapon attacks deal extra 1d6 fire damage. When a creature hits you with a melee attack, it takes fire damage equal to your Constitution modifier. You shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for another 10 feet. You gain resistance to cold damage. You can use Ashen rage a number of times equal to your Proficiency bonus per long rest.
Level 6: Unbroken Chains
While raging: You have advantage on saving throws against being grappled, restrained, or paralyzed. If you are grappled or restrained, you may use a bonus action to attempt to break free. When you successfully escape a grapple or restraint, the creature that restrained you takes 2d6 fire damage.
Additionally, your fire dames ignores resistance to fire (but not immunity)
Level 10: Coliseum Terror
When you enter Ashen Rage, choose one creature within 30 feet that can see you. That creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw
(DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier) or become frightened of you until the start of your next turn.
While frightened in this way:
- The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you
- It cannot willingly move closer to you
Additionally, while raging, you are immune to the frightened condition.
You may use this effect once per rage.
