Base Class: Paladin
VOW OF THE INQUISITION
No tears, please. Suffering should not be wasted in this way.
The Vow of the Inquisition is reserved only for those Paladins who wish to become judges, juries and executioners of the enemies of a cult. Heretics are those who profess wrongful views, and their punishments are at the discretion of the Inquisitor. These ungodly individuals can sometimes lurk within the cult itself, forcing only the most zealous to walk this lonely path.
Shining Examples and Hands of Purification often consider themselves guided directly by the will of their deities. Hated and despised by most, they are considered to be nothing more than self-important beings who arrogate to themselves the right to judge. All those who swear to follow the Vow of the Inquisition follow these dictates:
- Identify and purify us from Heresy
- You are allowed to disregard His dictates for the good of the cult. However, you must atone for your sins
- Have no mercy on the Heretic
Truth Incarnate
As a bonus action, you can fill your eyes with golden energy, granting yourself the following benefits for 10 minutes or until you choose to end the effect. Once you use this privilege, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest. If you expend a 5th-level spell slot, you can use this privilege again without having rested. After the first time this privilege is used, the Paladin's eyes will be completely changed to gold. The iris, cornea, and conjunctiva will be entirely golden.
Burn the Heretic. As a bonus action, you can observe the soul of any creature you can see. You can set your gaze ablaze to strike any target of your choice with a wave of searing divine energy. The target must make a DC 19 DC saving throw. If it fails, it takes 2d6 + Charisma bonus radiant damage plus 2d6 + Charisma bonus fire damage, while if it succeeds, it takes half that damage.
Kill the Changeling. Using a magical action and staring intently at a target, you can emulate the effects of the spell “Word of Power: Kill”.
Purify the Corrupt. You gain the Divine Awareness and True Sight 9m abilities. You can tell if what you see or hear is a lie.
