Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the Dreaming Veil tread the fine line between wakefulness and slumber, drawing power from the hidden threads of the subconscious. Their songs and tales blur reality, conjuring illusions that mirror dreams and fears alike. They can lull their foes into mesmerizing trances or stir inspiration through visions glimpsed in the mind’s eye. Many can wander the Dreaming Veil itself, glimpsing secrets, memories, and futures yet to come. Those who follow this path become masters of the unseen, shaping both the world and the hearts of those who dream within it.

Somnolent Secrets

Starting at 3rd level, you learn the cantrip Message and the 1st level spell Sleep. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Dreaming Veil spells table.

Each of these spells counts as a class spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know. If you are a wizard, you can add these spells to your spellbook upon learning them, without expending any gold, and prepare them as normal.

Programmed Slumber

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Insight skill. If you already have proficiency in Insight, you can choose another skill from the bard skill list instead.

Your mind, partially anchored in the dreamscape, resists unnatural sleep. You have advantage on saving throws against effects that would cause you to fall asleep against your will.

In addition, you can communicate telepathically with a sleeping creature you can see within 10 feet of you. While the creature remains asleep, you perceive the surface nature of its dreams—fleeting images, dominant emotions, and fragmented memories—at the DM’s discretion.

Invasive Sandman

At lv6, Your mind drifts along the edge of the dreamscape, brushing against the hidden fears of others. The whispers of distant reveries shield you from psychic intrusion.

You gain resistance to psychic damage.

As an action, you can project your consciousness into the mind of a creature you can see within 60 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC and force yourself to fall asleep.

While you are asleep in this way, the target loses awareness of you, as its mind becomes trapped in a vivid nightmare. At the start of its turn, it takes 2d10 psychic damage as the nightmare tears at its thoughts.

At the start of each of your turns, you may expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to force the target to repeat the saving throw, extending the effect on a failure. On a success, the effect ends.

While you are unconscious due to sleep or magical slumber, your body may still act under the guidance of your dreaming spirit.

You remain prone while asleep. However, you do not automatically fail Strength or Dexterity saving throws, and attack rolls against you do not have advantage solely due to the unconscious condition.

If you take damage, you awaken immediately unless the effect causing your sleep states otherwise.

You can use Sandman a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Sovereign of the Dreams

At lv14, You no longer merely walk the dreamscape — you command it.

When you cast a bard spell that forces a creature to make a saving throw, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to heighten the spell’s power. Roll your Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to your spell save DC for that spell.

You can use this feature only once per turn.
