Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Oath of Freedom paladins believe that every living being has free will, and that free will is the most important part of being a living being. Their sacred duty is to defend free will in almost any case - but imposing upon a living being's free will forfeits your own right and will make you an instant enemy of all Oath of Freedom paladins. This puts Oath of Freedom paladins at odds with Oath of Fate paladins, who seek to ensure that all actions are ruled by fate and prophecy. Despite the Oath of Freedom paladins' belief that all living beings have free will, the influence of Fate gods and their religious followers can disrupt free will if left unchecked.

Imposing on another being's free will is extremely vague and is often defined by the paladin themselves - all paladins recognize murder and slavery as the two ultimate crimes, as they permanently remove another beings free will. Other obvious instances of taking away another being's free will are to take someone prisoner or to cast a spell on them that bends them to your will. There are some more debatable instances that some paladins may or may not believe fall into this category, or may believe are lesser crimes, such as restricting someones movement without their permission (which can include picking someone up or even hugging them) or talking to someone without their consent (which can lead to long drawn out conversations due to social graces forcing one to pretend they care about conversations with people they've never met).

Ironically, an Oath of Freedom paladin's most common method of retribution is by removing their free will with extreme prejudice. Murder, imprisonment, and spells which remove free will are all highly popular among Oath of Freedom paladins. In cases of retribution, Oath of Freedom paladins may take away the freedom of a transgressor in whichever way they see fit without being considered going against their oath.

Aura of Freedom

The Oath of Freedom paladin has a 10ft aura around him, which causes any friendly humanoids within its' reach to become immune to spells which impair their freedom. This immunity is limited by the spell tier castable by the paladin - paladins that can cast 1st level or lower spells can only provide immunity to 1st level or lower spells.

For the sake of this aura, freedom-impairing is defined as spells which remove player agency or choice or spells which prevent the character from taking actions they could normally take. This includes but may not be limited to charms, fears, sleep, stuns, commands, and movement impairment.

Freedom of Mind

At the 7th level, Oath of Freedom paladins gain advantage on saving throws to effects that attempt to take away their mental freedom, such as sleep, charm, command, or other similar effects.

Freedom of Body

At 15th level, Oath of Freedom paladins may traverse any terrain at normal speed or may move 50% faster over normal terrain. This can include seemingly impossible things, such as walking up the side of a sheer cliff or walking on water, however the paladin must maintain concentration to perform normally impossible movement, and they can take no other actions that turn.

Freedom of Soul

At 20th level, Oath of Freedom paladins can take the form of their own soul, a blinding beacon of freedom, for one turn. During this turn, everything that can see is compelled to look away from you. Should they choose to ignore their compulsion, they must make a DC 30 CON save or be blinded for 3 turns. You may move in 120ft in any direction, including through solid material, so long as you end your turn in a space that your body can occupy. If you fail an attack roll, you do half damage instead of missing. If you cast a spell, your targets have disadvantage to save against it. You may use your turn to perform a free command spell with unlimited targets in range, but doing so will be considered breaking your oath and cause you to instantly lose your Oath of Freedom paladin powers until you repent, as described in the Breaking Your Oath paladin section.
