Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Spider is a rare and mysterious path, passed quietly from hero to hero across generations. Its power does not come from ancient scrolls or monastery training alone, but from a supernatural calling — a spark awakened when fate intervenes. Those who follow this tradition often discover their abilities suddenly, as if the world itself has chosen them in a moment of danger, curiosity, or chance.

Though they may not choose how their gifts arrive, they choose what to do with them. Every monk who walks the Way must decide whether to embrace the responsibility placed upon them, to rise as a guardian, a wanderer, a symbol — a Spider.

The mantle shows no favour to birth, status, or destiny. It could fall upon the meek or the bold, the lost or the hopeful. Anyone might carry the spirit of the Spider; it simply depends on who Fate “bites” next. Those chosen find themselves woven into a legacy far older than they imagined — a lineage of agile protectors whose courage, compassion, and quick wit bind them together across ages.

To become the Spider is not merely to gain power, but to step into a role larger than oneself. A Spider stands between danger and the innocent, leaps where others hesitate, and follows instinct as sharp as steel. The Way teaches that heroism is not granted — it is chosen, again and again, every day.

Spider Climb

At 3rd level, you have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, you can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free.

Arachnid Gifts

At 3rd level, you can cast the Arachnid Anchor cantrip, and once per turn you may choose to change one unarmed strike you make for a casting of this cantrip.

When you cast Arachnid Anchor on your turn, you may spend Ki points to bolster it's effects. For each Ki point you spend (up to your proficiency bonus), you can recast the cantrip as a part of the same attack action. When you cast in this way, one of the two points you choose must be the same as the original casting of the spell.

In addition, when a you see a creature begin to fall within the range of Arachnid Anchor, you may spend a Ki point and cast Arachnid Anchor. One of the targets must be the creature you see begin to fall.

Web Walker

Starting at 6th level, when touching a web (such as one created by the web spell, the arachnid anchor cantrip or from a giant spider) you are unaffected by reduced movement or any additional effects.

You can move along webbing regardless of its width as if it were a tightrope. When moving across a webbed surface, you move 10 foot for every 5 foot of movement you expend - provided the 10 foot is travelled entirely along the webbing.

Spider Senses

Starting at 11th level, if you are caught in the area of effect of a spell or ability, as a reaction you can expend any number of Ki points. For each Ki point you expend you may move 10 feet. If this movement takes you out of the area of effect, you are unaffected by the spell or ability.

Reactionary

By 17th level, you have super-human reaction speeds. You get 2 reactions per round instead of one. Whenever you could take a reaction, you may spend a Ki point to take the action without using one of your reactions.
