Base Class: Cleric
A sacred art where faith is etched into flesh, and devotion is written in living ink.
To the followers of the Oathscript Domain, the body is not merely mortal clay, it is parchment, reliquary, and altar in one. Every scar is a verse. Every heartbeat is a drumbeat of prayer. Where other clerics raise temples of stone, Oathscript clerics raise temples of skin and bone, sanctifying the living form as the most intimate expression of divine truth. They do not simply worship their god; they carry that worship carved into themselves, a covenant made visible.
Clerics of the Oathscript Domain believe the body is scripture. In their theology, divinity is not distant or abstract; it is something that must be inscribed, internalised, and borne with intention. Through sacred inks mixed with ash, crushed gemstones, sanctified oils, or even their own blood, they bind divine power into flowing lines and intricate sigils. Each mark tells a story, of protection granted, of battles survived, of oaths sworn beneath watchful stars. Their tattoos are not decoration. They are prayers that never cease.
When they work their art, it is a ritual as solemn as any mass. The needle becomes a stylus of fate. The skin becomes an illuminated manuscript. With steady hands and whispered invocations, they call fragments of celestial or chthonic energy into the ink itself. A completed tattoo does not lie dormant, it breathes. It shifts subtly when unseen. It warms at the presence of danger. It pulses in time with its bearer’s resolve.
Their magic manifests as glowing sigils that flare like halos beneath the flesh, moving illustrations that coil and stretch as if alive, and divine tattoos that hum with quiet power. Serpents of radiant script may wrap around a warrior’s arm, tightening when strength is needed. Wings of ink may unfurl across a back in moments of desperation. Names of forgotten saints may drift along collarbones like constellations rearranging themselves.
To receive a mark from an Oathscript cleric is to be chosen, trusted, and bound into sacred community. These clerics see every tattoo as a promise: I carry your faith with you. In battle, their allies shine with borrowed scripture. In times of fear, a simple line of ink can steady trembling hands. Even in death, their art lingers, faint impressions sometimes remain on the soul itself, as though the divine refuses to be erased.
Some Oathscript clerics are covered head to toe in overlapping verses and faded sigils, their skin a layered chronicle of devotion and sacrifice. Others bear only a single, perfect mark, a masterpiece of faith refined to its purest form.
All share one truth:
The gods write their will upon the world.
The Oathscript writes it back.

Inked Familiar
At 1st level, You learn the Find Familiar spell and can cast it as a ritual without material components. It doesn’t count against your prepared spells.
Unlike most familiars, your familiar can transform itself into a tattoo that you carry in your flesh. Transforming into a tattoo or back to a normal familiar form is an action for the familiar.
• In tattoo form, the familiar appears as a stylized version of itself etched into your skin.
While in tattoo form, it functions as though in its pocket dimension, except:
• It remains mentally connected to you.
•It can move freely across your skin at your direction (no action required).
• While tattooed, it cannot be targeted or affected by attacks or spells unless you are.
If your familiar is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use an action and expend a spell slot to restore it to full hit points. The level of the spell slot determines how quickly it reforms:
• 1st–2nd: Reforms after 1 minute.
• 3rd–4th: Reforms at the start of your next turn.
• 5th+: Reforms immediately in tattoo form.
Sacred Soul
You gain proficiency with a tattooer kit.
You can create minor divine tattoos during a short or long rest. You may maintain a number of active Sacred Ink tattoos equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1). A creature can bear only one of your Sacred Ink tattoos at a time.
Creating a tattoo requires 10 minutes of work and holy ink (negligible cost).
Choose one effect when you create the tattoo:
• Sigil of Vigor – The creature gains temporary hit points equal to your cleric level.
• Sigil of Precision – The creature may add 1d4 to an attack roll.
• Sigil of Resolve – The creature gains advantage on its next saving throw.
• Sigil of Swiftness – The creature’s speed increases by 10 feet.
Once a Sacred Ink tattoo is used, it cannot be used again until your next long rest or until you create a new tattoo.
Channel Divinity: Living Sigil
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to awaken the power within a tattoo.
As an action, you present your holy symbol and choose one creature bearing one of your tattoos (including yourself). The tattoo flares with radiant or shadowed ink.
For 1 minute:
- The creature gains resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
- Once on each of the bearers turn, they can deal an additional radiant or necrotic damage equal to 1d6+Wisdom modifier per turn
If the creature is reduced to 0 hit points during this duration, the tattoo instead fades and the creature regains 1 hit point
Secrets of the Tatau
At 6th level, Your mastery of divine inscription deepens.
- You may now maintain tattoos equal to twice your Wisdom modifier.
- A creature may bear up to two of your Sacred Ink tattoos at once.
- You may expend a spell slot up to level 3 to imbue that spell into a mystical tattoo. The spell lasts until a long rest or until the spell is expended
Additionally, as a bonus action, you may cause one tattoo within 30 feet to surge. The bearer may immediately:
- Move up to half their speed without provoking opportunity attacks, or
- Make one weapon attack.
You may use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Revelations of Sigils
At level 8, Your tattoos have learned to answer danger before you consciously command them.
When a creature bearing one of your Sacred Ink tattoos (including yourself) takes damage, you may use your reaction to cause the tattoo to flare and apply one of the following effects:
- Ink Shield: Reduce the damage by 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier.
- Vengeful Script: The attacker takes radiant or necrotic damage equal to your Wisdom modifier
- Flowing Step: The tattooed creature may immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
At level 14th, you are then granted to Grand Sigils.
A Grand Sigil enhances its base effect and gains an additional benefit:
- Grand Sigil of Vigor: When the bearer would drop to 0 hit points, they may instead drop to 1 hit point and the tattoo fades. (Once per tattoo.)
- Grand Sigil of Precision: When the bearer hits with an attack, they may roll the bonus die twice and choose either result.
- Grand Sigil of Resolve: The bearer gains proficiency in one saving throw of your choice while the tattoo lasts.
- Grand Sigil of Swiftness: The bearer gains advantage on Dexterity saving throws.
Masterwork of Living Ink
Starting at level 17, You can use a bonus action to become a masterwork of living ink. This new form last for 1 minute, While you are in your form, you gain the following benefits:
• You have a flying speed of 40 feet.
• Your spell save DC is increased by 2.
• You have resistance to damage from spells.
• When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you regain hit points equal to the spell’s level.
When your form ends, you can’t move or take actions until your next turn, as your body recovers from the transformation. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again
