Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Virtuosity honor and give sense to the word ‘College’ when applied to the bardic arts. Just like Wizards who spend hours and hours poring over dusty tomes and arcane manuscripts, Virtuosos dedicate much of their lives to perfecting their dominion of the musical arts.

Some Virtuosos focus on a sole family of musical instruments, like strings, percussion, or wind, whereas others concentrate on their own voice as their instrument. The difference between a Bard of the College of Virtuosity and a musician, however, is the reason these bards hone their mastery so single-mindedly.

Virtuosos believe that the Words of Creation, the source of all bardic magic, ring louder when the conduit that channels them is devoid of all impurities and mistakes. These bards seek absolute perfection in their music to empower their magical abilities beyond that of any mage.

Level 3: Magical Musician

You have Advantage on any Charisma (Performance) check you make that involves you singing or playing an instrument. Additionally, you can play a musical instrument you use as your spellcasting focus in place of the Somatic components and Material components (without an associated cost) of a spell.

Level 3: Creation Concerto

You can channel the Words of Creation through your musical performance to obtain great boons. As a Bonus Action, you can expend a use of Bardic Inspiration to start a Creation Concerto in a 10-foot Emanation that originates from you, choosing one of the options outlined below and gaining the benefits associated with that option.

  • Nocturne. You gain Resistance to one damage type of your choice. Additionally, choose a number of other creatures within your Creation Concerto’s area of effect, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature). Each of these creatures gains a +1 bonus to their AC.
  • Requiem. When you deal damage to a creature by casting a spell other than a cantrip, roll a Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to the spell’s damage. Additionally, a number of creatures of your choice within your Creation Concerto’s area of effect, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature) have Advantage on Death Saving Throws.
  • Waltz. You double your Proficiency bonus on all Dexterity saving throws. Additionally, a number of creatures of your choice within your Creation Concerto’s area of effect, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature) gain a 5-foot bonus to their Speed.

In order to maintain the Creation Concerto for subsequent turns, you must concentrate on it as if you were concentrating on a spell. As a Bonus Action on your following turns, you can expend another use of Bardic Inspiration to change the concerto option. Creatures leaving the Creation Concerto’s area of effect lose its benefits instantly. The Creation Concerto lasts for 1 minute, but it ends early if you dismiss it (no action required), have the Incapacitated condition, are in any way silenced like through the Silence spell, or until you lose your Concentration. If another College of Virtuosity Bard is present, a creature can benefit from only one Creation Concerto at a time; the creature chooses which Creation Concerto while in them.

Level 6: Arcane Orchestra

Your Creation Concerto is now a 15-foot Emanation. When a creature spends a use of Bardic Inspiration while within your Creation Concerto Emanation, you can use your Reaction to change the concerto option without spending a use of Bardic Inspiration.

Level 14: Bardic Rhapsody

Your Creation Concerto is now a 30-foot Emanation. While your Creation Concerto is active, you can concentrate both on the concerto and a spell simultaneously. When you do so, you roll two separate Constitution saving throws to maintain Concentration on the spell and the concerto.
