Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Satire weaponize ridicule and performance. Their magic spreads laughter, humiliation, and distraction across the battlefield, turning enemies into the punchline of the joke. A satirist knows that laughter is a blade sharper than steel, and no tyrant survives long once the crowd begins to laugh.
Satirist’s Wit
You gain proficiency in Deception and Sleight of Hand.
You learn the Vicious Mockery cantrip. It counts as a bard spell for you and does not count against the number of cantrips you know. If you already know Vicious Mockery, you may learn another bard cantrip instead.
Your ridicule carries a painful magical sting.
Psychic Punchline
Once per turn when a creature either succeeds or fails a saving throw against one of your enchantment spells, it takes psychic damage equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.
This damage does not grant advantage on saving throws against enchantment spells such as Tasha’s Hideous Laughter.
Cutting Remark
Your insults strike deeper than simple mockery.
When a creature you can see succeeds on a saving throw against one of your enchantment spells, you can use your Reaction and expend a Bardic Inspiration die to deliver a cutting remark.
Roll the Bardic Inspiration die and subtract the number rolled from the creature’s saving throw. If this causes the creature to fail the saving throw, it suffers the spell’s effects as normal.
Whether the saving throw ultimately succeeds or fails, the creature takes psychic damage equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die.
The creature must be able to hear you to be affected.
Mocking Flourish
Your performances turn ridicule into magical humiliation.
You always have Tasha’s Hideous Laughter prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare.
Spread the Joke
When you cast Tasha’s Hideous Laughter using a spell slot, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration die to turn the spell into a comedic spectacle.
The spell instead affects creatures in a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on a point within range that can hear you. Each creature in the area makes the saving throw normally.
Cutting Satire
Your ridicule leaves enemies mentally off balance.
When a creature fails a saving throw against one of your enchantment spells, you can twist the humiliation deeper and force the creature into a state of confusion and embarrassment.
The creature becomes Dazed until the end of its next turn.
A Dazed creature can take only one of the following on its turn:
- Move
- Take an Action
- Take a Bonus Action
You can use this feature a number of times equal to {{modifier:cha}} (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
The Room Loses It
Your enchantments can send an entire audience spiraling into laughter, panic, or humiliation.
Once per turn, when a creature fails a saving throw against one of your enchantment spells, you can cause the reaction to spread.
Choose up to {{modifier:cha}} creatures within 15 feet of the original target that can hear you. Each chosen creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against {{savedc:cha}} or suffer the effects of the spell until the end of its next turn, as though it had failed the saving throw.
Creatures affected by this feature cannot cause the effect to spread further.
