Base Class: Monk

A monk who follows the Way of the Orbital Soul is a spiritual astronomer, dedicated to contemplating the intricate dance of stars and planets in the heavens. They have recieved celestial wisdom regarding the nature and exchange of gravity within all things. This enlightenment allows them an innate governance over gravitational forces and the manifestation of an astral self as a reflection of that power. They effectively become a soverign body, free from the rules of up and down, and capable of re-writing them with astronomical force.

Level 3: Arc of the Moon

Starting at level 3, You gain the ability to increase your reach, apply force damage, alter density, impose wisdom over matters of strength and dexterity, and manifest a number of astral appendages using ki.

Epogee: The will of your spiritual force acts as an innate extension of your physical body, increasing your reach and the range of your unarmed strike by 5 feet. Actions using your Epogee still occupy your physical self through gesture. If you were to lose an arm, your Epogee can replace it.

Ecliptic Soul: You can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes, and for Strength and Dexterity checks and saving throws. You can choose to deal force damage instead of bludgeoning damage with your unarmed strikes.

Feather/Anvil Brand: As a bonus action, you can touch a creature or object within your reach, or hit with an unarmed strike, to cast Adjust Density on it for 1 minute (no material components required)This effect requires concentration.

  • Feather Brand: The target's weight is halved. It gains a +10 foot bonus to its speed, its jump distance is doubled, and it has [Tooltip Not Found] on Strength checks and saving throws.
  • Anvil Brand: The target's weight is doubled. Its speed is reduced by 10 feet, and it has [Tooltip Not Found] on Strength checks and saving throws. 

 

Lunar Limbs: As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to manifest a pair of spectral hands with a 10-foot reach. They statically orbit your main body and last for 10 minutes. The maximum number of limbs you can have manifested increases at certain levels in this class.

Starfall Cascade: Immediately after you hit a creature with an unarmed strike on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to use a bonus action to unleash a furious meteor shower of astral punches. You make one additional unarmed strike against the target for every active pair of Lunar Limbs you have manifested. On a hit, these strikes deal force damage. Additionally, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC or be knocked prone.

Level 6: Unteathered Soverign

Starting at level 6, you have made strides in mastering the effect of gravity on yourself and can create sources of gravity in thin to displace enemies.
Spacewalker: You gain the ability to move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free, as per the spider climb spell. You also gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
Fallproof: You are immune to falling damage and cannot be knocked prone by a fall.
Weightless Agent: While your Lunar Limbs are active, you can spend 2 ki points as a bonus action to gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed until the end of your turn, as per the fly spell.
Graviton Strike: When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to create a gravity well. If the target fails a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC, you can push the target up to 5 feet in any direction to an unoccupied space.

Level 11: Ecliptic Domain

Starting at level 11, your hands have become a powerful orbiting belt of shields. They now have the deftness to deflect oncoming elemental attacks and the strength to grab and lift heavy objects and creatures. 

Orbital Defense: While your Lunar Limbs are active, you can spend 3 ki points as a bonus action gain a bonus to your Armor Class equal to your Wisdom modifier for 10 minutes.

Graviton Deflection: When your Orbital Defense is active and you are hit by an attack, as a reaction, you can spend 1 ki point to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier. This feature works against acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, thunder, and radiant damage.

Graviton Grappler: Once per turn, you can use two Lunar Limbs to attempt to grapple a creature within 20 feet. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failure, the creature is restrained. Alternatively, you can spend 2 ki points to lift the creature 20 feet into the air and drop it, dealing 2d6 bludgeoning damage.

Level 17: Beyond the Event Horizon

Starting at level 17, your mastery of gravity grants exalted destructive power.

Starfall Missile: You can spend 1 ki point as an action to make a ranged spell attack against an object or creature within 60 feet. On a hit, the target takes 2d10 force damage, plus an additional 1d6 force damage for every 10 feet the punch travels.

Singularity Aura: As an action, you can spend 1d6 ki points to emit a spherical aura of gravitational energy with a 30-foot radius for 1 minute. You must maintain concentration on this effect. Whenever a hostile creature starts its turn within the sphere, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw. On a failure, it takes 4d10 force damage and its speed is reduced to 0 until the start of its next turn. On a success, it takes half damage and its movement is treated as difficult terrain.
