Base Class: Sorcerer
Return as an Embodiment of Ethereal Energy
You died. How, when, or why may be lost to memory, or perhaps you catch fleeting glimpses of the event in the back of your mind. Your soul drifted through the waters of the afterlife, but something—or someone—brought you back. Was it divine intervention, a necromantic ritual, or a fluke of magic? It is hard to say.
Your passage beyond the mortal realm has left its mark. In your new life, you exist on the thin line between the material and ethereal, caught in a controlled state of flux. You have learned to use this condition to your advantage, bending the corporeal and incorporeal to your will, while channeling the powers you had glimpsed in the afterlife.
Ethereal Spells
Level 3 Feature
When you reach a Sorcerer level specified in the Ethereal Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Longstrider, Feather Fall, Invisibility, See Invisibility |
| 5 | Blink, Nondetection |
| 7 | Banishment, Freedom Of Movement |
| 9 | Passwall, Wall Of Force |
Spirit Aspect
Level 3 Feature
You can allow your body to revert more to the formless soul that you once were in death.
While not wearing armor or using a shield, you gain the following passive ability:
Spirit Veil
While you have Spirit Veil, your base Armor Class becomes 13 plus your Charisma modifier. Additionally, your feet never fully touch the ground, allowing you to add your Charisma modifier to your Stealth checks. You leave no tracks and make no audible footsteps. In addition, you can move across liquid surfaces as if they were solid, unless you choose to sink or are Incapacitated.
Ghost Aspect
Level 6 Feature
You now move as if you were a ghost, and your presence in material and ethereal is causing rifts that you can manipulate.
Phasing. You can move through creatures or objects. When doing so, every foot of movement costs an extra foot. If you end your turn inside an occupied space, you are immediately shunted to the nearest unoccupied space.
Ghostly Evasion. While your Innate Sorcery feature is active, you gain the following benefits:
- Your Speed is increased by 10 feet.
- You ignore Difficult Terrain.
- Attacks of Opportunity cannot target you.
Additionally, upon activating Innate Sorcery, you can choose an amount of creatures up to your Charisma modifier. When a creature that you have chosen moves within 10 feet of you on their turn, they receive the benefits of Ghostly Evasion until the end of their next turn. If you are on the Ethereal Plane and the chosen creature is on the plane that you left, the chosen creature can still receive these benefits as if you were both on the same plane of existence.
Wraith Aspect
Level 14 Feature
Your twinned occupation of both material and immaterial has allowed you to harness it more effectively.
Floating. You can move freely in any direction, including vertically. If you move up or down, every foot of movement costs an extra foot. This cost does not stack with the extra movement cost from moving through creatures or objects. While above the ground and not Incapacitated, you can hover in place without falling and are immune to the Prone condition.
Adept Etherealness. You always have the Etherealness spell prepared, and you can choose to cast it without expending a Spell Slot once per Long Rest.
While the spell is active, you can choose whether or not you are visible and/or audible to creatures that would normally not be able to perceive you while you are on the Ethereal Plane.
Wraith Mist. While Innate Sorcery is active, you emit a 10-foot Emanation of distorted ethereal energy that originates from you. You, as well as creatures you have chosen for your Ghostly Evasion feature, gain Half Cover while within the Emanation. This Emanation extends into the Ethereal Plane; if you are on the Ethereal Plane, the Emanation extends into the plane that you left.
True Ethereal
Level 18 Feature
Being ethereal is second nature to you; your mastery between the planes is at its peak.
Unhindered Spirit. Moving vertically, moving through creatures and moving through objects no longer costs you extra movement. Ghostly Evasion also increases a creature's Speed by 20 feet instead of 10.
Ethereal Rift. As a Magic action, you conjure an Ethereal Rift that extends into the Ethereal Plane, or into the plane that you left if you are on the Ethereal Plane. This Rift takes the form of a 90-foot Cube, centered on a point that you can see within 120 feet. You, as well as creatures you choose when you use this feature, can see through solid objects within the Rift, perceiving objects as ghostly, transparent images. Additionally, while within the Rift, you and chosen creatures can use a Bonus Action to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space within the Rift.
The Rift lasts for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest unless you spend 7 Sorcery Points (no action required) to restore your use of it.
